I have a s3 with same seats and adjuster is on the centre console side. The sabelt seats have the adjuster on the door side. Sport mode has no effect on the suspension only steering weight and engine mapping.
@PaulRankinYT5 жыл бұрын
Previous one I drove had the carbon sports front seats with the adjuster on the drivers side, I just assumed tbh And yeah I was going off what the sport button does in my own car

Awesome video mate! In the process of buying my first Abarth and most likely going for 595c Turismo by next week. I drive a BMW M5 F10 as my daily and looking for a city car on the side. I know people don't like Abarth in start stop traffic but I am enchanted by the looks and feel that it has so much more character than say Fiesta ST so should complement nicely my saloon which I hate driving in London traffic. And for me practicality isn't a concern either, can take my BMW for those long trips but a pocket rocket to do those short trips to Sainsbury's and then taking a long route back would be a great weekend fun.

Sounds like you’ve planned out the perfect daily to run round in and then the absolute rocket M5 to have some fun in when needed

Hi Paul, I was going to get the Corsa E VXR white like you used to have, but decided to go for the Abarth 595 same colour as this test drive Abarth! Podium Blue. I got the Beats sound system I couldn’t work out at first where the sub was but found it eventually it’s in the space the spare would’ve been. Put some HEKO deflectors on which look good. I wanted to do some mods but my insurance company wouldn’t entertain the idea, Lowered with 10mm spacers and monza exhaust possible re map, smoked side repeaters, got a quote from Adrian Flux which was quite good, so may eventually go with them as they cover all mods. Very fun nippy cars to drive and cheap to run, reminds me of my old Renault 5 GT Turbo, showing my age now LOL.

Loved a good Renault 5 Turbo, are you enjoying the Abarth? It’s a fun car to drive without a doubt, especially when we had it up on the twisty roads but I didn’t really get a good feel for it on city roads, stop start etc
@Siforce715 жыл бұрын
Paul Rankin To be honest Paul I use my Abarth as my daily driver,lots of short stop start journeys, never have a problem weaving in and out of traffic, so easy to park fuel economy is really good, I’ve even hit 52mpg long distance but average 34mpg to 38mpg. Insurance for me is £275 fully comp, 12 months road tax £145 just a fun car to drive especially in sports mode which I only press to keep the novelty factor alive.😂
@PaulRankinYT5 жыл бұрын
@@Siforce71 got to keep the spirit alive when driving mate otherwise we might as well drive sensible cars lol Sounds really good when you out it that way mate and pretty cheap to run

That looks like the A65. I had one of these new in 2015 with the 140 bhp engine, with same wheels as the car in the video. I dislike the look of the 16 inch wheels, I had them on a new one in 2012 and thought they were ok then, but 17s look much better. Trade off is 16s ride better apparently. Anyway, two points, yes the suspension is firm and with the car being small,it can feel a little unsettled on anything other than glass smooth roads, but its not uncomfortable. I believe the new version has Koni FSD shocks which should help. As for the sport button, I always pressed it when going on the motorway, as I found the stiffer steering was excellent and made the small car feel a lot more stable, plus you only had to touch the accelerator lightly to maintain the speed limit. I regret selling it, but had to at the time for financial reasons. Im starting to think about getting another one to keep for a few years. They are also cheap for what you get in terms of the fun, handling, the exhaust sound etc. Not sure its big enough though now, although I dont have kids but at the moment I have a Swift boosterjet, and although its a bit bigger car with more room, it has none of the character of the Abarth, and it really is not a hot hatch. You can drive it spiritedly but the car is not set up for fast corners and twisty country roads and the suspension is a bit hit and miss. Its a town car with a half decent engine, but im not really a fan of three cylinder engines anymore, driven allsorts with them, cheapo hatches plus Audi A1, BMW 1 series etc and they all seem to have the same problem in that they can be hesitant when you put your foot down, as if the power drops off and comes on again, like its misfiring but not actually misfiring. Im guessing its something to do with the fact three cylinders are unbalanced compared to four. Its not turbo lag as such, just inconsistent unless you take your time accelerating. Ive found that if I keep the revs up before changing gear and NOT flooring it, the power delivery is smoother. Foot down in lower gears, three cylinders do not like that. Anyway, its good for what it is, but the smaller Abarth is a far better driving and handling car overall. Apologies for the long rambling post. Sorry, last point. You say it feels comfortable, and yes the later versions are. My 65 plate was much improved over the 12 plate. The ride was more refined, the gearing was better for motorways, seemed more solid. I did hundreds of miles around Scotland the first week I got it and was very comfortable indeed. The only thing is the constant low rumble from the engine and exhaust, but you get used to it. Try an Audi S3 in dynamic mode and it sounds shit. Just boomy. Abarth better sounding in my opinion.

Thanks for the comment Simon that was a hell of a read, sounds like you really enjoyed your time with the Abarth and have found many other owners also say the same thing about them. It’s definitely a fun little pocket rocket and with the used market being what it is, you can pick up a nice 66 plate or over for a decent price. Do you think you will start looking for another?

While we had it up in the twisty roads it definitely didn’t hang around, it was a lot of fun but ten it’s also going to come down to what it’s like as a practical daily
