Rubbing alcohol also works well for cleanup and shaping WoodEpox. With WoodEpox, I find it's helpful to dip my putty knife in it, let the excess run off before shaping the filled section. This keeps it from getting stuck to the putty knife

This stuff is great! I have zero carpentry or construction experience. I tackled some rotten wood areas around my home to save money and the Abatron product worked amazingly well and it was really easy to use. I recommend anyone even slightly interested in trying this DIY work to go for it!

I've used this on my 1001 year old craftsman. Don't let the cost scare you. It's the best epoxy system I've used. I wouldn't use any other product.

Just a few thoughts as an amateur DIY person. I used only LiquidWood. Read & follow directions carefully. If you are not familiar with it, try it first on a piece of scrap to get used to it. Thorough mixing is essential, and the 2 parts don't mix easily. You have to stir vigorously until you are sure it's completely mixed. Depending on temperature, you have a long working time. I used it at ~75 deg F, and it took at least 2+ hours to begin hardening. So don't hurry. Give it lots of time to cure - a few days unless you can heat it as the directions say. It's a really good product. I'm glad I got it.

This stuff is fantastic. I have wooden soffits with arched fascia boards that had rot damage. The arches would be difficult for an amateur carpenter such as myself to completely remove and duplicate, so I treated and filled just the damaged areas with this product. It's solid as a rock, and was easy to work with. Just follow the directions closely. Expensive, but far less $ than a pro carpenter. Worth every penny!

Does the WoodEpox putty adhere to vinyl? I am looking for a putty of exactly this consistency that can be shaped to fill cracks and holes in my vinyl siding. I have already tried so many products, but there are only so many good products you can buy in Canada.

How long does it take to dry this stuff if I use a heat gun? The weather will not be warm enough for long enough to let it dry properly otherwise.

Can you add oil-based semi-solid deck stain to tint WoodEpox to the wood's color, then afterwords, apply final coat of semi-solid stain for good measure?
@AbatronInc4 жыл бұрын
Powdered dyes or pigments are best used with WoodEpox. Liquid or semi-solid stains can have unknown effects on the curing of the WoodEpox. We suggest tinting the WoodEpox to match the wood tone and then staining with highly pigmented liquid stains.

Do you have to use the liquid wood 1st if it's an interior project? My wood isn't rotten, my dog chewed my stairs.

Your comment is so old that this won't be helpful to you, but to others with this question, you only need to use the wood hardener if the wood is rotten.

The LiquidWood can leave a tacky residue on the surface even after the penetrating portion has hardened. And it's actually best to apply the WoodEpox while the LiquidWood is still wet.... I hope the WoodEpox hardened for you and you were able to complete your project. If not, please let us know.
