Man, I ran into this exact problem last weekend......the wiring diagrams gave me flashbacks. It was my first time with an ABB VFD, but not for the other guys. Got it figured out after finding the second diagram in the manual. You are a great resource.

I love your videos, I started out watching you in trade school while I was doing commercial new construction ductwork constantly wishing I could get into service/industrial work. 4 years later I work for one of the big OEMs service department, I still watch your videos and learn something

Good drives, don't ever use them with a bypass requirement so that was an interesting with the inputs. The only issue i have is ABB didn't provide any way of copying the programing from the 550's to the 580's.

yeah people often get confused by the e-clipse bypass. if used, bacnet comm goes to the bypass unit. if you use hard wire for ss/speed then only the speed reference goes to the actual drive. the ss goes to the bypass. the best is when someone lands comm wires on the drive and then goes in and changes the modbus comm settings between bypass and drive, trying to get comm working. 🤷

I run into these eclipse bypass drives so much I’ve memorized the controls wiring. The Yaskawas with the bypass are simpler all your IO goes back to the same board.

Hello, I'm not sure what is the use of the "By pass" on a regular drive ? I know "true" softstarter always have a contactor bypass like on the McQuay you've shown recently on your channel, but a regular drive ? 🤔

I’ve seen multiple times where the minimum reference is set at 0hz at the vfd causing the controls not to send a speed reference..

The Way video like this should be shot. Keep the head camera rolling. Better perspective in my opinion

I don’t get how controls contractors cant figure that out. I’ve been in controls for 10 years and 10 years in mechanical service, and it’s so basic. I see this kind of stuff all the time and it’s just blows my mind.
@zack9912000 Жыл бұрын
I've seen plenty of control specialists miss this over the years, so I would say not so basic even for people who do them daily
