@@tobiaslundqvist.71 Not sure if you fell asleep during your history classes, but Japan was deprived of any military capability after being defeated by the Allies in World War II, and was forced to sign a surrender agreement presented by General Douglas MacArthur in 1945. Article 9 of the Japanese constitution still prohibits Japan from maintaining an army, navy, or airforce. However, because of rising tensions with China and North Korea, the U.S. has allowed Japan to rebuild their military on a smaller scale, despite it technically being illegal and a breach of their constitution to do so.
