My favorite thing about this scene is that they show middle-aged and older women just having fun and being silly for the hell of it. A lot of media tries to make it seem like once a woman hits middle age, especially if she has children, she is not allowed to be fun or silly unless it is to make the children happy. This scene has me LIVING.

I'm from Greece and as yall know, Mamma Mia was filmed in Greece. The best thing about this part of the movie is that the old ladies and all the other people you see except Donna and her friends were local people from the Greek island. The fact that the director joined them in the movie warms my heart. It gets me every time.

@balika1853 жыл бұрын
Since when 30 is old?😂
@dinaahlman90713 жыл бұрын
@@balika185 you're not and that’s not what I’m saying. It’s very common in our society that you have to reach all your dreams before you’re 30. That you can’t party when you’re 30. You have to have a family before you’re 30. This leads to younger people having anxiety, stress and a lot of pressure during their 20's. They feel like they’re time is running out. Im trying to say, that you have to realize that your life doesn’t end when you’re 30... And look at this scene where all the leading ladies have the time of their life to this song. They sing about how they can dance, sing and party despite their age. It’s incredibly well done by the directors. You have to understand my quotation marks that I wrote. The "older" stars, meaning Meryl, Julie and Christine who are doing this incredibly and it’s amazing how they were the ones who got to do this song. It could’ve been Sophie/Amanda who did it, which maybe some people would’ve expected. "Your life doesn’t end when you’re 30" is a message that maybe someone needs to hear. Just look at these ladies and what they are doing in the movie. I love it. You’re not old at all by 30. Also, everyone else, thanks for the likes

This past December, my friends and I were at a bar. They had live music playing and prior to this song, we were the only table that was singing loudly but once this came up, our table immediatelly jumped to our feet and ran straight for the dance floor. Minutes later we had the whole bar dancing along with us. Honestly I have never felt more alive, we were so in the moment we actually got up on the tables and started dancing on top of them, I've never felt more main character than that night.

. Yea, I was being myself dancing to a really good song when some grumpy woman told me not to dance. I just kept dancing. And although I am in my upper 60's I still have my air guitar, make up songs and laugh obsessively. When I taught school I used.made up accents. For fun. It would be special to do what they are doing, but I realize it's only a movie and I should have my own kind of fun with family or friends.

Whats so great about this scene (and this movie) is that it's all about a middle age woman questioning her choices in life, starting to realize her mortality, her mistakes and the legacy she wants to put behind her. But working so much for the next generation, she forgets herself and start to question where she belongs in all this. Suddenly her friends start teasing and playing, like they used to do when they where young. With song and dance they inspire all the other women around to feel the same, any age and any ethicity. That no matter how old, no matter your past or background, you can still sing, dance and play, and be your own queen in your own story. Mamma mia tels us that if your young u shouldnt waist your time forcing yourself through old traditions, but take your own time. and if your old you have still your younger self longing for adventure and fun, so why not let it out? Why not burst the bubble of every day life, and just sing and dance and live a little? Together with old and new generations of women. The time is now, so take your chance while you still can.
