// ATTENTION! THIS VIDEO WILL BE AVAILIBLE IN HD 1080p WITHIN 60 MINUTES OF UPLOAD! //
This was a nice but short little tune. Unfortunately it took me a while to kind of absorb the lyrics for it, because there was so much instruments going on at the same time so I didn't reflect on the lyrics immediately. But I read up on them afterwards, then I got it. I quite enjoyed this song. Not the best by ABBA, but also not the worst. What are your thoughts?
From the album "Arrival" 1976.

For me this is one of ABBA's most under-rated numbers .. It's got that nonsense sounding title and lyric which seems to put some people off and make them think of it as a silly song .. But it's actually a very strong piece of music with a wonderful melody and instrumentation, and of course those enchanting ABBA female vocals .. This one always makes me feel good !

Agree. And i like Icelandic act BJORK's perception and the way she had discribed Abba and also the whole ARRIVAL album. Here some of her own words. 'ARRIVAL' is a happy album/"ABBA saved my life"/"I can get lost in this. It’s pure joy, this music. It’s a bit of an escapism, from all the intellectual conversations and arguments you have in your life, and just being silly and happy and stupid, but it’s pure, as pure as pure can get. You just want to dance on the table. Bjork. And all those come from an avant garde personality and not a pop act.

I LOVE this song and have loved it from the first time I heard it as a 15 year old in 1977 when I got the Arrival album. I love the soundscape of this song and it’s a good example of just how talented and innovative Benny was, not only as a music composer, but, also his skill in the studio as producer. Everything ABBA recorded, regardless of whether it’s an ABBA song you love and one which may not be your favorite, was of the highest quality production values and the sound was crisp, clean, addictive, perfect pop music which is more popular than ever, more popular than initial release. They actually were ahead of their time as evidenced by the fact they are as popular today as they were originally in the 70s and early 80s.

ABBA is the only band who's music is such a natural part of my everyday life since childhood that it feels like a second skin (though I'm decades younger than they) - I could tell my life in ABBA songs 🙃. That's the reason I don't often comment to them. Maybe that's not fair but it's like commenting my daily toothbrushing (a lame comparision, I know 🤷🏼‍♀️). They are the prototype of an ideal band to me where everything is perfect - music , vocals, looks, lyrics.... And their "Ode to Freedom" could be the ideal anthem for our days now. Huge thanks to you that you keep sharing their work. ❤️🎶

ABBAMAN,... The song is definitely a highlight from the arrival album I always liked it a lot😊 i thought it should have been a single back in 1976 Abba never ceases to amaze me how good their songs are their courses are outstanding and they had that certain hook that you remember and keep singing over and over again. Not many groups have that ability to draw you in and put you in a great mood and keeps you wanting to sing the song over and over again❤

First comment here! Hello, dear GivenToe, good to see you again in another ABBA song of your ABBA journey "Dum dum diddle" (1976) This is a happy song from the best album "Arrival". It has a good rhythm and a different set of music, I think with influences from Swedish folk and the Beach Boys. It's a good song, (6/7 pts for me) but within the framework of the fantastic album "Arrival" it is relegated by the greatest hits of singles (Dancing Queen, Money money money, Knowing me kmowing you) and other great songs (My love My life, , That's me) and the energetic Tiger & When I kiss the teacher Even in some reports from a few years ago, Björn & Benny talk about songs that should not have been recorded, because they were not considered good enough; I think that "Dum dum diddle" is one of them to which they refer well, they are very demanding with the standard For me it's a good song to complete the album, in a happy tone, but it doesn't stand out more than for that "Dum dum diddle" has a unique performance on TV (its good to see Agnetha & Frida singing live), its performed live in the special "ABBA-DABA.DOO" (1976), with the premiere of the album Arrival and before their trip to Poland see you in the next ABBA video I wish you an excellent weekend and great hollydays in your vacations God bless you take care cordial greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America

🚁 I'm pleased you like it, Given Toe. I really like this song... when I was young, it was my favourite track on the Arrival album, because it was so upbeat (despite the lyrics). I really like the instrumentation on the intro and outro, too. This song gets a bad rap, mainly for its "silly" lyrics and "throwaway" subject matter, but I think it's a perfectly instrumented piece of catchy ABBA pop. It's not as sophisticated as Knowing Me Knowing You, but in itself, I'm really pleased it's here. 👑 Enjoy your holiday, Given Toe. Relax and unwind and 🍻

He wrote it out of despair, at the last minute, even if it sounded : Dumb ! dumb ! diddle ;) Source : "Bright Lights Dark Shadows" by Carl Magnus Palm, THE ABBA Biography written by THE ABBA expert. Hi I would really appreciate it if you would react to, From Here to Entity by The Fizz, formally known as Bucks Fizz The Fizz - From Here To Eternity (Official Video). Below is a little history of the group and singer. Bucks Fizz star Jay Aston has endured a hellish ordeal over the last few years. The singer, who rose to fame when the British band won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with 'Making Your Mind Up', has suffered from her own agonising health battles. Jay was diagnosed with mouth cancer in June 2018, had a gruelling seven-hour operation to remove a section of her tongue and then had it rebuilt using part of her thigh. They recorder this track on the day Jay was diagnosed with cancer which make it very emotional. Jay has recovered and is still touring with the group they just played a sell out concert at the 02 arena in London 43 years after winning the Eurovision. Also please check out, The Fizz Live At The Water Rats They have a big catalogue of hits, let me know if you would like more suggestions from the fizz.

Very Swedish music and great fun playing with different cultures (very Swedish music to English lyrics) and Benny basing it in Swedish tradition with fiddles (= fiol, på 'ärans och hjältarnas språk') and the beat being "gånglåt" ( 2/4 or "march"). I love it and I did already when it came out in the 70's. However, don't be fooled with the word "Dum", which in Swedish is not very nice.

Abbasolutely love love love this song but the lyrics are a bit too simplistic for such talented song writers as Björn & Benny. The actual title "Dum Dum Diddle" is what's referred to as a "nonsense" title as it doesn't really mean anything but it's just a bit of fun to match the feel of the song. Agreed it's not their best song but it's not their worst by a long shot.

Abba were maturing and were about to move (both lyricwise and music-wise ) into a more sophisticated ground with ARRIVAL's follower "THE ALBUM" that kinda got distanced from the earcandy Scandi pop.But variety, diversity, progress and non-repetitive creativity were ingredients that made them even more attractive and non-boring.I love all this adventurous course.
