What a real and raw interview. It also really shows how smart she is. Fast, intelligent, reflective.

Frida, you said it's the small things that now have your interest in life. When in Zermatt your perspective in life makes you feel that way,. Surrounded by the high mountains, one can naturally feel that way. The big things in life erases are but a perception that humans have. The mountains and the sea does it for me. May God bless you Frida, and thank you.

Frida's life seems to be based on a movie script. Or the other way round, her life offers enough tragedy, happiness, losses, fame and glory for 3 movies - with all due respect.

This interview, I think, shows what a classy and caring person Frida, like her singing partner, Agnetha, is. It says a lot that Frida has described Agnetha as being like her sister.

She is famous, wealthy, titled and privileged. But it all comes with considerable hardship. As a largely isolated and insecure young girl who came from Norway where women such as her mother were ostracized for having affairs with German soldiers during WWII and who later took her daughter to Sweden to avoid it, and then who died when her daughter was two only to be raised by her financially distraught and hard working grandmother, she escaped into the world of music. Her talent was recognized at an early age and by 14, she was singing in dance bands. But finding a musical career seemed unlikely, so, as many young women do, she married and had children. On a whim, she entered a singing contest, won an award, a recording contract which led to television shows. She made recordings, music videos, personal appearances, performed in a movie and her beauty led to modeling assignments. When she met the other members of what was to become ABBA, she and her husband knew she was on the verge of great fame and fortune. But it meant touring and being away from the family, a difficult decision. The marriage was already struggling when she met Benny Andersson, the father/brother figure she never had who guided her to success. In the interim, her grandmother died After a long courtship, and following divorce, she and Benny married, taking in the kids whenever possible. ABBA made her famous, but though equally beautiful and talented, she was often in the shadow of younger blonde Agnetha Faltskog. She rarely complained. Divorce would follow after Benny's affair with another woman. She was deeply hurt. After the group disbanded, she made some singular recordings with moderate success. Then she married into royalty. It was a love affair that ended when her husband died prematurely from disease, around the same time her daughter was killed in an auto accident. Deciding her career was over, she moved to Switzerland where she lives with a male companion, maintains a private lifestyle, does few interviews and is very philanthropic.

I really felt for her when she spoke about recording Like an Angel Passing Through my Room, which is one of the most beautiful things she's done. I think both she and Agnetha had to put up with a lot from B&B telling them how to sing. Granted they were the composers ..but without Frida and Agnetha Abba would never have been as big as they were! I have heard that Bjorn in particular criticized everything Agnetha did! My husband (who is a piano player) is the person who can make me very nervous, because he is the one who knows if I'm singing well or am slightly under par, as he hears me practice. Anyway ..just saying ..it made me really wild for her when she said " don't you dare tell me how to sing it!'

@pert45: She's talking about CERTAIN fans, who sends her letters. Probably the kind of fans who share their life stories, and tell her about their problems and possibly how ABBA's music has helped them through the problems. How about you start using your brain a bit instead of making insulting comments about Frida, who probably will never know that you exist anyway. :)

thank goodness she returned. I think Frida was the member of the group who always longed for a reunion, but accepted that it would probably never happen because of the reluctance of the others. She also went through so much tragedy in her life I understand completely why she wanted to enjoy the 'Little Things' that bring us joy rather than having a lofty, extravagant and ultimately empty life. She seemed so happy and proud at the Voyage concert opening... and I think she's hinted that she's not adverse to doing more with the group... come on, Frida... we love you!

WHAT IS SHE SAYING.....?????.......I listened to ABBA's music because it was GREAT....not because I was missing anything in my life....how dare she assume that everyone who liked ABBA had problems??????????????????????????...this has changed my view of her.....GET A LIFE is what I'd tell her....and give her millions away to charity if she feels that she made money from us because we were ' missing something' in our pathetic lives....!!!!!!!

Awesome! You really put that idiot in his/her place! Frida didn't say a word about people who listened to ABBA having problems-- it was about some fans writing to her with difficult life stories-- maybe this person was one of them, hence the defensive reaction. It's alarming how some people don't listen or read carefully but go off on a baseless rant-- it's a dangerous lack of accuracy that can lead to all sorts of conflict.

For someone who has Swedish as her first language, she appears to have a better understanding of plain English than yourself. Too often, people react without properly hearing what has been said. At no point did she say 'everyone'. She quite clearly was speaking of only those who send letters and are looking for comfort. It's surprising that, after all these years, you haven't deleted your ridiculous comment. But then, seeing some of your other contributions, I guess it isn't really a surprise. Don't just hear, .........Listen !!!
