Forty years after their last studio album, Abba have made one of the most anticipated comebacks in music with the release of their new record, Voyage.
But the 10-track album has divided opinion among critics.
Benny Andersson isn't worried. "I don't think we're taking a risk because if people think that we were better 40 years ago, fine."
He said he thinks Voyage will be the quartet's swansong and told BBC entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson: "I don't want to do another Abba album."

I'm 48 and being an ABBA Fan for over 40 years, this album is a masterpiece, The only disappointment i have with this album, is there were no Bjorn singing on this record, So if you could do one more album for the Show that would be brilliant. A part from that the album sounded great. Thank you for the music guys.

Keep an eye on Dan is my favourite its phenomenal. All the songs are masterpieces. Your music has given people such joy. I could write forever about you. What I think is so true of all four of you is you are all salt of the earth and down to earth people. You are all humble and real. Very hard working. You all are blessed with God given talents and you have used them and shared them. A lot of people today aren't real that's the difference. I love you Abba. God bless you all. ♥️♥️♥️♥️👏👏👏👏

As an ABBA fan since the 1970s, I just want to say, once again, "Thank you for the Music!" During the live stream event announcing "The Voyage", Benny and Bjorn mentioned how much the four of them enjoyed being back in the studio to record The Voyage, and I was hoping that they liked it enough to be eager, or at least to think about, cutting another album. Sad to think that this is really the end, but with the new album and the venue in London, I'm hoping that their legacy continues for at least another 40 years.

I have followed ABBA since before they got famous all over the world. I have so many wonderful memories of their music. I danced to Dancing Queen in a kibbuz near Tel Aviv, I cried when I myself sang “Fernando” in Los Angeles, I played “The Winner Takes It All”, when I was left by a boyfriend, etc. etc. Their music always helps my soul, my psyche. It is like ointment for my nerves. I remember seeing the couples in Stockholm many times. When they went to the grocery store, to the cinema and so on. So down to earth, so "normal", so humble, so gentle. The success has not changed them. It is incredible, if you think about it. Still humble and down to earth. I have seen the young generation embrace them just like I did in the in the mid-1970s. What I also hear many young people of today say is: “Wow, this is nothing like the “music” made today. ABBA is really making MUSIC”. So many people, old as young, get very emotional when hearing their music and lyrics and Agneta and Annifrid`s unique voices and ability to convey the message. Björn, Benny, Agnetha and Annifrid touches our hearts. I think, that if it is something we humans need today, is it to awaken our real, deep emotions again. It is our emotions that make us human. Their music and lyrics bring us joy and happiness, an uplifted state. At the same time, they make us come into contact with our deep wounds so that we can heal them. And with our melancholy. I think that we cannot feel a real joy if we do not have contact with our opposite feelings; ABBA knows that like a tree trunk that we erode with our sorrow and pain, as big a hole that has become, just as much joy we can hold. It is like their music has a healing impact on our (today) so weary souls. No other group that I am aware of can touch our feelings as they do. Many says: “Oh, their music makes me cry, or their music really touch my heart”. I have also heard: “Just when the world needed them most ABBA returns”. Thank you, ABBA: you make me so proud of being Swedish! All my love, Lena.

Mamma Mia 3 and Voyage the musical, maybe an actual ABBA biopic (the story of how Bjorn and Benny actually first met... and then how Bjorn acttually met Agnetha and how Benny actually met Frida?...and then, the actual formation of the group) still have to be done. From Santa Rosa in Tokyo in 1972 to Brighton, Sydney, Glasgow and now Kilkenny...the super troupers have regaled us with the Ode to freedom in the time of the metaverse space of 2021...This 50 year fleeting voyage will now slow down andante andante and take a breather....I am sure the voyage will continue somehow...as long as the eagles, birds and bumblebees spread their wings, these two dancing queens and their kings will never lose their crown or spirit....thanks for showing us the noble way old friends do to appreciate the little things...Once you told us you were nothing special, infact maybe a bit of a bore, but when all is said and done... we could not have asked for more... It was our privilege and destiny, to have shared your history, an epic half century...from the glitz and glamour of that Eurovision night to Agnetha wearing the covid mask... you basked in the glory with dignity and humility...your next stage in this marvelous voyage is the remaining little step towards immortality....the gods had a notion; threw the dice and just like that took a chance on you....and you lent us your voice and let your music speak so beautifully....no doubt about it! Heaven help your hearts and we thank you once again...for the music voyage...and all the little things it brought to us!

Back in the day, loved singing to ABBA songs while following the wonderful lyrics on their large beautiful vinyl albums. Thought afterlife of ABBA hit it big when their ‘70’s songs were used in “Mamma Mia!” Broadway show and later in 2 movies. But now a brand new album 40 years later and a futuristic ABBA-tar show to come in London. Even as Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn & Anni-Frid are now in their ‘70’s, we still cannot get enough of ABBA. More importantly, the four reunited together again to create, perform and sing, as if time had not passed, and truly enjoyed their extraordinary experience. ABBA, thank you for the music… and the magic you still have! 💚🎵🎸🎹💗💋🎶🎧🎤🎼💛

You can't please all the people all the time. All you can do is believe in yourself and do what you think is right for you. Such an aknowledgement can only come with maturity. ABBA have done that. They are not doing it for the money or commecrial popularity, but for the joy of making music. They don’t need to prove anything.

Some Pop Bands can be successful while they release their recordings, but the true tests of time and of greatness are whether their songs remain cherished with their original fans AND whether they also acquire new fans with the new generations...and ABBA has done just that: the virtuoso quartet has more staying power than ANY other popular group of their generation... and surely more than other popular groups of subsequent generations. MUCHAS VIVAS PARA ABBA!!! Muchas Vivas para Suecia!

This is an edited version of the interview that was shown on BBC Breakfast. Benny talks about the new album being recorded using just a 30 year old synthesiser (the Synclavier) plus "real drums" and a couple of guitar players and a bass player on just one track. And that was all that was used.

Have watched the newspapers varying opinions on the new album. Personally, if your a critic or columnist and your under 35yrs, you really have no place giving your opinion on a new abba album. It's like someone of that age giving their opinion on the nuclear dread that hung over every kid in the late 70's, early 80's. You haven't a clue what your talking about. You cannot comment on abba based on listening to abba gold! If you actually sit down and listen to their albums, every one has a couple of classics and the rest was just abba cliché. The new album is just the same. WTF some newspaper Muppet actually likened a track on the new album to Shaking Stevens!!! This shows just a crass lack of insight on the topic. Abba wasn't just music, it was a thing, a feeling, a moment in life. It's like summing up The Beatles with I am a Walrus. Honestly, some people get paid waaaay too much for opinions you could generously put on a matchbox!

Quite frankly, they seem to be happy with what they’ve done and are mentally prepsred for all the naysayers and critics. I’ve listened to the new album a lot and the songs just keep on writing in your heart and mind. The sales prove their popularity but once people listen to it a few times the demand for more will be there. Just a case of whether they want o go out on a high or go again. I’d also bet, Covid permitting, the Abbatars will be still in action well into 2023!

I had "when you dance with me" on in my car in a parking garage the other day. Someone came up to my window and had to know what it was. She thought I was going to give her the name of an obscure Irish band and couldn't believe it when I told her it was ABBA.

A studio album every year would hardly put Benny's back out. Or give Bjorn a hernia. With 'the girls' angelic voices as back up vocals as usual. C'mon guys. This world needs plenty of healing. And music is the salve. Use your considerable God given gifts and musical chemistry together to alleviate it's suffering. Please!

I was 14 years old when i first heard my first ABBA song- Mama Mia, and from that day until now I have been an ardent consumer of their music. In fact, I have all their albums in vinyl, a treasured collection. Fast forward 40 years and here we are- another album from this iconic group. WOW..Have they lost anything? absolutely not. It's as if they picked up where they left off. The sound is solid. The lyrics are on point. The vocals- unaffected by age and of course the rhythm is still authentically ABBA. What a triumph. What a joy to the music. It's a pity Gen X and Z have no clue who ABBA is or even know or even heard t music. Their loss. But all is not all in vain. If they can manage to put away their absorbing cell phone, stay away for an hour from the socially, addictive Instagram and TikTok and just relax, plug in their AirPod and listen to clean, meaningful music, well their life would not all be in vain. Thank you ABBA. My life has reached the promised land.
