No, you can sense this is not a top ABBA song because the verse in not as strong as it should be. The chorus absolutely kills it, but at the time they were not proficient enough to come up with a verse as solid as it. Had it been composed later in their career and it could've been a masterpiece, as it is it's "only" a great song.

@@shereekendall1003 Hardly. The choice of that song was pretty calculated, rather than "heart felt", in order to stand a slightest chance of a good placement. (They didn't belive they could win.) Their deeper musical indentity is more in folk music inspired tunes and such elements in other songs.

@@herrbonk3635 lol.😂 of course they knew they would win, even though Bjorn states that in the documentations when in interviews. And how I know this is because I'm a singer, we'll not so much now coz I'm older now, so I just do a few shows here and there. But getting back to why I know that Bjorn and Benny knew they would win is because I myself entered competitions, and I always knew I'd win regardless of what song I wrote or sang. It's just one of them things that musians have, call it what you like. Anyway my reply wasn't based on that assumption, I just simply replied saying ABBA had already found themselves with what type of style of genres they were following, and that was a little bit of everything as we all know that by listening to all their albums, the types of genres they wanted to follow stands out a mile long so to speak, but thankyou for your opinion, as we are all entitled to our opinions😊

Yeah, although the first two ABBA albums are often cited as being weaker than what followed, there are still some great songs on them. These were albums where, as Björn would say, ABBA were still 'looking for their sound'. So there is a bit of a mish mash of styles. Schlager, folk, Glam Rock and even Reggae/Calypso influences. But the 'ABBA sound' was emerging. Apart from the title tracks, I'd recommend ''Another Town Another Train', 'Disillusion' and the hugely underrated 'Gonna Sing You My Lovesong' . 'Watch Out' is a raucous Glam Rock number where ABBA cut loose too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5ukn3-mep6mgtE

I love this song for several reasons. First of all, it has an extremely strange structure (short intro, chorus, reprised intro, chorus fadeout). I don't know any other song that does that. I mean, WHERE' are the verses?? And not only that, but during the long fadeout, the song keeps changing keys every time the chorus repeats, meaning that if it kept playing indefinitely, within 20 minutes, it'd be so high-pitched that only dogs could hear it! Very unusual. And yet, because it's ABBA, it works so very well. Genius.

I have read, that Amanda Seyfried thinks, that there aren't enough ABBA songs for a third Mamma Mia Movie. I have laughed, because perhaps she should listen to the studio albums and not just the famous hits. xD No, I haven't the 4 CD box from 1994 but perhaps one day I will buy it, too. This song was influenced by the Wall of Sound producer Phil Spector used in his records in the 60s - think The Ronettes Be My Little Baby. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys also was influenced by this kind of production technique - you can hear it in various of his songs especially Don't Worry Baby.
