It’s different because you are listening to a lot of the songs backwards chronologically. This was 1974, very much an early 70s ballad and ABBA are still developing their style. Which is why the guys still have prominent vocals.

ABBA's biggest influences were Swedish Folk, Northern Euro folk, classical, baroque, traditional... which they incorporated into modern popular music. Benny loved J.S. Bach... He has also mentioned Joni Mitchell, Brian Wilson producing own records, and others.... The only influence they received from The Beatles, was writing their own songs. Also, as Frida mentioned in 2010, RockNRoll Hall of Fame, Stikkan 'Stig' Anderson. Stig is tied to all the Swedish hits in the 60's. A songwriter, musician, with a knack for hooks and languages. His songs/artists dominated Swedish charts in the 1960's. "My love of Bach is deep, strong, and everlasting." Piano, 2017, Benny Andersson Bach was a master of counterpoint/counter melodies. This is all throughout ABBA's music. Lots of layers. ABBA's trademark melancholy/ smiling through tears effect... is unique to Northern Russia, Finland and into Scandinavia, long dark winters with little sun and long sunny days during summer. Thier unique sound was brought up at RockNRoll Hall of Fame in 2010, along with mentioning ABBA ENTIRE catalogue being hit worthy. Benny remarked, you can hear the melancholy in the girls vocals. Benny also mentioned some Swedish writers, movie stars, etc...that are known for melancholy. Benny & Bjorn also wrote what Swedes call their "National Opera ' ... 'Kristina fran Duvemala'. Too sophisticate/Operatic for Broadway and West End. The usual nose in the air, stuffy classical music critics, deemed 'Kristina' a master works/masterpiece. Benny: music Bjorn: lyrics, playwright, book

Such a wonderful song and love your video as always, you're the best. The vibe that Tyler mentions is the Beach Boys vibe, Benny's favorite musicians. A very good influence here. The four of them singing together makes this one special, Agnetha lead vocalist, then Björn takes over and then they all sing the chorus, a mesmerizing song, ABBA's magic never ends. Would suggest Hasta Manana or Honey Honey from the same album, all-time favorites. Merry Christmas, Tyler and Marissa!

i looooooove this song so much. It's got a very good almost standard pop melody, i think it's got a 60's touch for me with it's syncopated bolero rhythm and mellow flow. For me It's their first typical ABBA song in the sense of Happy-Sad... it's a sad content but the melody is so uplifting and positive... that's their secret ingrendient happy-sad. you might not notice at the first listen, but it's so damn catchy and you find yourself easily humming it the whole day... Dance, while the music still goes on....

Heló dearest Marissa & Tyler, so happy to see you in the beginning of the week with your ABBA Journey Now is the time of "Dance (while the music still goes on)" These is one of the beautiful songs (beautiful is the exactly word) from the earliest years It's a sweet solo by Agnetha, and fantastic chorus for all four, They made an unique voice together, amazing, it's the most important of the song, an amazing chorus that grows more and more after each key changes And is one sad and melancholic lyrics, but so great, in contrast with a catchy melody It has three features: 1) It is the first song they recorded for what would be the album "Waterloo" in September 1973, almost 49 years ago 2) Upon entering the recording studio, the name ABBA for the quartet had not yet been defined. 3) it is a song in which Benny does not participate in the piano or keyboards These song is from 1973, and have some vibs of "Ring ring" album... is timeless! It's in my Top3 of all songs in "Waterloo" álbum, with "Honey honey" and the homonymous "Waterloo", the masterpiece of the album I see you in next ABBA reaction My best regards to You from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South América

This song is a slice of pure pop heaven and should have been in a side single back then what is the b side of honey honey but should have been an a side also would have made a great closer for a concert but I don't think they ever sang it live love that the song modulated twice and lifted it to new heights this was a standout cut from the Waterloo album back in the seventies most albums only released two singles so a lot of good album tracks never got heard unless you bought the whole album this is one of those such songs wish they had done a video for it when other piece of trivia benny is not playing keys on this song not sure why but he's absent from the recording. Still after almost 50 years this is one of my favorite early album tracks that is quite a pop masterpiece

Nice new hairstyle for Marissa! Farewell to the black sound-proofing tile on the back wall 😪. To me this is a companion song to Hasta Manana on the Waterloo album - ABBA had an uncanny ability to write & produce songs that sound like instant classics (that you think you've heard all your life but in reality you might have only just heard for the first time) - I would include I do, I do ,I do ,I do I do in this category - only a select few songwriters and groups can pull that off ( the Beatles & Yesterday spring to mind as an example).

The ABBA girls in unison. Yes Frida solo. Yes (particularly Live) Frida harmony. Yes Agnetha solo/live. No. Frida solo/live. Yes Agnetha has very little LIVE solo performances. Frida has got tons. There is a reason. Read about ABBA and their beginnings. The seeds planted by Stig Anderson: 1960 - Swedish music (publishing) 1963 - Polar Music (record label) Agnetha: studio product. Not known for her live performances. Frida: stage theater cabaret TV radio shows. ALL LIVE. Took stage 1956. Pro: 1958, age 13. Highly respected by music peers since grade school. A professional LIVE, working vocalist before ABBA. Not a record label generated and marketed pop singer. The Real Deal! ABBA: Bright Lights Dark Shadows The Real Story of ABBA By Carl Magnus Palm You learn the story of Polar Music/ ABBA and how they became a foursome. What it took to get Frida to commit to a pop group, which was a downgrade from her preferred vocal centric genre's, but more lucrative. In 1972, Stig Anderson Polar Music secured Frida. It took a lucrative deal contract partnership with Stig Anderson Polar Music. Stig then eventually named them ABBA. Agnetha is fine - when - she can be produced in studio. In a LIVE environment, without big band, adornments, etc ...but spot lighted (literally) in live environments carrying the melody/song is when she gets exposed.

This is a strange composition for a pop song because there are basically no verses. The vocal intro is more like a bridge. Also, it's very short, so while the song has that 'bridge' part twice, two and a half minutes of the total three are chorus.
