Since I live in the u.s. I had no idea there were comic books and strips. The original copies must be worth quite a bit but it would be nice to have them released even on me Abba online store. Thank you Bobby you are always so informative in your videos and I really appreciate it being a huge Abba fan from the beginning I will never know everything about them unless someone like you presents them to all of us😊

I still have my ABBA magazines... Sadly none have the cartoon strip in them as I don't have the first lot. Still they hold a wealth of information and stunning photos of our fab Swedish four! Loved your video! Whoever thought ABBA was famous in so many cartoon forms. Once again it proves ABBAs unique success ❤

Thank you for the explaining all these facts, many of them unknown for me till now! I havent been interested in comics, but now this way of telling their story is like a good idea!

Thank you, Bobby's Brother. I didn't know there were so many different comics and animations over the years. My favourite artwork here is the cover from The Album. As a child I spent hours listening to this album and staring at the cover (maybe Arrival more so!), and working out what all the little pictures referred to. Thanks for your loving and detailed history. Tack! 🎶❤

Your research is amazing. I was thinking he won't know about 'Look-In' in the UK which I remember fondly but no, you even give us a full TV commercial! They used to have centrefold posters, often of Abba, which went on my bedroom wall. Great work as always, thank you.

You'll be surprised what BB does know. When he posted a shorter video the other day I wondered if he'd mention Look-In. I read that comic as a kid as well and remember the ABBA comic strip.
@sianwilliams9564 Жыл бұрын
@@WhitneyHouston4eva1 me too! I used to get Look-In as a kid, and loved how often ABBA featured - though I was sometimes annoyed by the cover illustrations as they weren't perfect - at least one of the members of ABBA would always look a bit odd to me! I cut a lot of the covers out for my scrapbook and the posters used to go on my wall. In fact, although I got it every week, I really only wanted Look-In for the ABBA features as I rarely watched any of the ITV shows it featured! Yes, Bobby's Brother, the ABBA Magazine cartoon was a re-production of the LookIn cartoon - which disappointed me! I used to scour school comic and record fairs for back copies of Look-In for the ABBA features!

Having seen bits of the Beatles, J5 and Osmond cartoon series, it would’ve been cute seeing ABBA’s own cartoon. I imagine them facing a different foe every single episode with a couple of songs in between! Also, we would have to talk about their own Matchbox dolls in this universe. As far as I know, these have been the only dolls made of ABBA (and commercially released ones at that) during the group’s heyday. They look kind of odd IMHO but I wonder…would Mattel take a stab at them and create fabulous replicas of their costumes? I’d buy them in a heartbeat!

Hi BB, it would be really interesting to have a little documentary on the ABBA Live album from ‘86. The idea seems to be a hangover from ‘82 and the album had overdubs, and I believe fake audience overdubs too. The sleeve was totally out-of-keeping with the ABBA period, and the whole thing was quite odd. It’s always intrigued me.

Wow, there is a whole parallel universe of ABBA, most of that unknown for me at the time. By the way, I think The Album has the best cover of an ABBA record.

Great video! I love the animation clip of ABBA on a private plane from the cancelled cartoon series. Wouldn't it be great to fly in that plane with them?

ABBA certainly used many different visual ways to promote the music. I think maybe it stemmed from their dislike of travel. They created videos for the singles so they didn't have to visit all the countries that wanted to see them. Perhaps the comic strips and animations were an extension of that; a different way to capture peoples attention and deflect from the fact they didn't travel for personal appearances or tour as often as other artistes. I've always loved the artwork for The Album but for some reason it was released in the UK with a blue background. It doesn't have the impact of the white version which is so much more vibrant - it really would have stood out in record stores.

I feel like an ABBA cartoon series could have been very successful..or at least gained a cult following. I really wish we had some full episodes to look back on. Would they have updated Frida's character with her different hairstyles, I wonder?

I was never into buying magazines so the cartoon series was something I never knew about. Today I wish I had seen them. On the other hand I did see the cartoon series on TV and think an ABBA one would of been great to see. I love the Happy Hawaii cartoon. The live album cover is a real favourite of mine too Even though not showing ABBA. I just like the idea of a huge set like that being built.

Hey Hey Bobby , Greetings from one of the 13 colonies on this day🎆. Bring back the puppets. I watch the last video all the time . They are enchanting, kudos to Jim Henson. But…they need updating in the form of ABBATAR’s . Wow , what a concept that would be. 🇺🇸

The ABBA cartoon could've been successful if they had released it. I'm old enough to remember The Jackson Five and Osmonds ones. There is a cartoon clip of them singing Happy Hawaii on KZbin, that's if it hasn't been taken down.

An ABBA animation similar to the spider verse movies I would love I'm not crazy about the happy Hawaii one not as good as the Jackson's/Osmond's cartoons
@ianhart4757 Жыл бұрын
However Happy Hawaii is one of my favourite ABBA songs. It is fascinating how it was not liked by ABBA, and was rewritten to become Why Did It Have To Be Me. Also there was a different original version of the melody and song that was rejected before becoming Happy Hawaii. Stig Andersson stated this in 1976 in an Australian radio interview. Another lost treasure to find in the Vaults.

Ohh, that Live Album artwork? Hate it! It reminds me of A-ha's Take On Me, but it doesn't resonate as an ABBA album at all.
