Abba's not a 'girl's group' ...anymore.Apart from being a guilty pleasure for a mass of boys back then, now it's a meeting point for a mass of diverse music lovers. From gays and classical music listeners to hip hopper, metalheads and punks.Great reaction.Thank you.

These guys deserves respect and the haters can go whereever! The ABBA-girls are actually the female artists who have sold most albums ever in the world!!! Fantastic harmony, arrangements, lyrics and voices and so many excellent songs! The Mamma Mia-movies are nice yes, but the songs are ofcourse better with Abba! Why not ”Lay All Your Love On Me” or the more groovy ”The Name Of The Game”?

Hated Abba as a child - because it was the ONLY cassette tape that my dad would EVER play on our very long road trips. But now as an adult I LOVE and appreciate their music and harmonies. My TOP favourite Abba song is Summer Night City. Followed by Does Your Mother Know, Voulez Vous, Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie, Under Attack, and The Name of the Game. ALL are fantastic - and ALL worth a listen. I think you'll truly enjoy every one of them. Enjoy the journey. Cheers from Canada :)

So nice to see you again reaction to more ABBA songs in your ABBA Journey "Take a chance on me" (1978) is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world, the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen), #3 in Billboard U.S. one of their four Top10 in US : #6 Waterloo (1974) #1 Dancing Queen (1977) #3 Take a chance on me (1978) #8 The winner takes it all (1981) This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music (They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end) the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful, in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid in co-leads vocal (and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance') Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together Agnetha is soprano Anni Frid is mezzo soprano and together made a 'third voice' the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging, by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to "take a chance, chance, take a chance", so the song was born Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive if I could give You a suggestion for next reaction, take a review of all "ABBA The Álbum" (release at the same time with "ABBA The Movie" in 1977), is a Masterpiece of versatility in each song, but specialy the hymn "Thank you for the music" I wish you a greatest week My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South América

I'm a big ABBA fan and I was one of the few lucky ones who got to see them live at Wembley Arena in 1979🤗 I myself wouldn't recommend the Mamamia films🤮, l got the DVD when it came out and the next day I gave it to a charity shop. As I said I've been an ABBA fan for decades but the movie is not for me, but I can understand why women like it, I would however recommend "ABBA The Movie" The story line is a bit cheesy but the live performances are outstanding you get to see a whole new side of ABBA from what you see in their videos 🙃 🇬🇧🙂

This song was 1977. It's disco. People seriously dressed up to go to the disco. The hair styles and makeup here were completely appropriate for a night at the disco. I know because I was there. The movie used covers of lots of ABBA songs. It may also have used some of their originals; I'm not sure. I saw the first one. It's a romp, an entertainment. Don't walk in thinking you are going to see something great, and you might have fun with it if you let yourself.

You may already have heard some of these facts about ABBA but in case you haven't...ABBA ruled the world in pop music from around 1974 when they won the Eurovision Song contest, a music contest across Europe that takes place every year, until they separated in 1982. The band name is made up of the initial letters of the members names. Angetha (amazing vocals, blonde, originally married to Bjorn, separated around 1980), Benny (plays piano, writes the music and sings, originally married to Anifrid), Bjorn (writes the lyrics and sings) and Anifrid (amazing vocals, dark hair). After the band split in 1982 Benny and Bjorn continued working, writing music, etc. Wrote the musical Chess and the stage show Mamma Mia based on the bands music, later made into 2 films.... more to follow...

ABBA are the worlds 2nd most successful band of all time, album sales only second to The Beatles. The most amazing thing of all is that after nearly 40 years apart they reformed in 2021 to announce a brand new album / new music ABBA Voyage with an amazing new concert using digital avatars of themselves (created by George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic) with a 10 piece live band in a purpose built arena in London which remains constantly sold out 18 months after it opened - the show is amazing, unlike anything anyone has seen before - you must see it.

ABBA have a huge catalogue of amazing songs, you've only begun to see the range and type of music they created. To see how good they ARE, not just were, I would recommend you listen to one of the first songs released from their new album, 40 years after their last, called "Don't Shut Me Down' - listen and tell me that isn't ABBA! I can't pick a top 3, there are simply too many so my first 3 suggestions covering a range of styles would be: "Does Your Mother Know" (lead singer Bjorn), "The Piper" and "When I Kissed the Teacher"

ABBA started their career in a talent show, not backed by a big music corporation. Somehow, they kept this vibrancy, this freshness to their sound. Their songs were playing non stop through my teenager years, they were very popular. As well as singing together, they were also two couples. Agneta (the blond girl) was not very comfortable being a super star, and that eventually ended the group, and their marriage. I'm glad to see they remain popular, they deserve it. My favorite of their is: Knowing Me, Knowing You, that talks about their break up.

ABBA are not in the 'Mamma Mia' movies themselves apart from a couple of 'blink and you'll miss them' cameo appearances by the two men in the group. But the films are built around a soundtrack featuring multiple ABBA favourites. Personally, I much prefer 'Muriel's Wedding' which is a brilliant movie that incorporates a handful of ABBA classics very well into the storyline. ABBA really has universal appeal and their fan-base is a wide cross spectrum of society.

As much as I don't like ABBA covers, I love Mamma Mia and watched it over 1K times. I know it sounds crazy, but I must admit it has much to do with Meryl Streep. I have been a huge fan of hers since '85. Even though I knew she could sing, I was nervous about taking ABBA songs. But The Winner Takes All made my chin drop. I was amazed at the power of her voice. Slipping Through My Fingers is also a little gem. Meryl and Amanda's voices blend wonderfully together. Pierce's When All Is Said And Done is pretty decent; in fact, I liked it. It wasn't until then that I realized what a brilliant lyricist Björn is. Frida's version was about the end of a relationship, while Pierce's is about a new beginning. It never occurred to me to look at it from a different angle. I like Mamma Mia in general. It's a joyful, uplifting, and moving film. I can't say the same for MM2, I've only seen it once, and it was enough for me. Not because Meryl is only in it for about 5 minutes, I knew that, but the filmmakers didn't respect the previous storyline and totally ruined it. Unwatchable for me. And the ABBA cover versions in this movie were terrible. Waterloo still scares me to this day. Or when Cher sings ABBA 🤢
