-I have listened to hours of interviews with ABBA and I can tell you that the song is about Agnetha and Bjorn's divorce. When the song first came out both of them said that it wasn't about them but as time and distance dulled the pain they both admitted that the song was about their divorce. If I remember correctly, Bjorn said that it was about 90% about their divorce. -Just how arrogant are you to think that you can tell one of the most successful song writing teams in the history of recorded music how they should have written or arranged their songs? ABBA is the most successful "pop group" in history with worldwide record sales of around 400,000,000 and 21 #1 hits worldwide, show some respect.

- While Björn (the guitarist and lyricist) denies that the song is specifically about his divorce, the lyrics are clearly inspired by it. Agnetha has said that she felt a very personal and emotional connection to the song, and that it's her favorite ABBA song. - The other couple, Benny (the pianist) and Frida divorced as well, and they have their own breakup song: "When All Is Said And Done". - Actually, ABBA made a surprising amount of breakup songs, even before the divorces: "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "My Love, My Life", "Disillusion",... - This was a big hit worldwide. It was #1 in at least 5 countries, and top 5 in many more. It's become one of ABBA's signature songs.

When they recorded it, they asked Agnetha to refrain from making the vocal into a soaring Broadway type ballad. They wanted to make it less about the singing and more about the meaning. In parts she tones it down to more conversational than soaring long and showy phrasing etc.

They claimed it wasn't about their divorce for decades, but Bjorn finally admitted a few years ago that it was. It was Bjorn (who wrote the lyrics) singing to Agatha (using Agnetha's voice of course). It was quite cruel because she knew but didn't know as he wouldn't even admit it to her for decades. Just as important, Agnetha hurtfully commented once that Bjorn was dating someone two weeks after their divorce (and very well prior to that). Agnetha never wanted the divorce and would go on to have a couple more relationships, even being married again for a short time, but Bjorn married the girl he was dating, raised a family with her, and they are still together. There was a winner. Bjorn took it all and it's easy to tell from the interviews that Agnetha has been affected by it ever since. That makes this song even more devastatingly haunting.

Yes they said there were no winners in their divorce but the fact if you check,, Agnetha Faltskog's vocals in all but a few were what held the songs But to check out who made the big bucks of the group she was dead last and this I believe was to punish her for causing the group to fold. it's really funny that as she tried to start a solo life away from ABBA she never went anywhere yet the songs she did were very good.. Just sounds to me like someone didn't want here to do good Bjorn and Benny nd Fredda comes to mind, They all made 8 figures or better yet Agnetha less than half of what Bjorn and Benny did. Looks fishy and smells even more fishy. Do give me that they wrote the music and word to the songs, Yes it is true but where would those song gotten them without Agnetha?
