Such a brilliant composer. I was blessed with a decades long career as a studio singer in Los Angeles during which time I had the honor of working with Jerry Goldsmith on the scoring session for Poltergeist. I told him then how much I loved his Alien score and he smiled, thanked me and said it was not the happiest of experiences for him as director Ridley Scott had been difficult. Goldsmith was such a nice guy, I was sorry to hear that. RIP good sir and thank you for every note!

Gotta love it. Everybody else buggers off for lunch and what does Jerry do? Sit at the grand piano and play a spot of Chopin while all the others stuff their faces 😉

I believe Sidney Sax conducted the Wild Rovers score
@catchoupiote2 жыл бұрын
I've always been rather skeptical about that. Sax was'nt a conductor and Goldsmith always conducted his scores (with a few exceptions for some of his 20th century scores, conducted by Lionel newman). I wonder if it wasn't simply a mistake of the album producers based on the fact that Sax was credited as "leader" (first violin) of the orchestra.
@iceomistar43022 жыл бұрын
@@catchoupiote I agree, I think someone should check the facts, Sidney Sax was Concertmaster, Jerry likely conducted the score.
@MrVideoVagabond2 жыл бұрын
The actual soundtrack sessions for Wild Rovers were held in Los Angeles, and conducted by Goldsmith. The composer then flew to London to re-record the score (and some "inspired by the film" tracks) for the MGM Records album release. Sax was credited as conductor on the album, but the rumor is Goldsmith actually conducted.
