I just got the Bondi Boost Sonic Hair Dryer (I think it’s on sale right now) and oh my gosh it’s the best blowdryer I’ve ever used. I’ve never tried Dyson or Shark but in terms of generic dryers it’s absolutely fantastic. Ionic technology, super quiet and light weight, lots of different speed and heat options (plus a cool shot), a diffuser and concentrator attachment and there’s a self cleaning feature?? It tried my hair in about half the amount of time that my previous blowdryer did and I had pretty much no frizz. I wouldn’t recommend any of their shampoos or conditioners but the blowdryer is amazing!!

For people who don’t have a microfiber towel, I use old T-shirts! While they can’t hold as much liquid as the towel, they are very smooth and (I find) don’t damage your hair. Plus, most people have a million t shirts lying around, or you can get one at goodwill for $3

Time stamp 12 minutes, yes YES YES, as a long-time stylist, we do use the term "rough style". And I prefer it too. Get the hair mostly dry before picking up that brush for the least amount of damage!
@Kay2be2mr2 ай бұрын
But that only works best for women whose hair is mostly straight to begin with. Do you ask your client whether that is what they prefer though? Because I have hair that is more on the dry frizzy side, that if left to air dry, looks more like cotton candy. That's just always been my hair texture since little. I live in Puerto Rico and even the cheapest stylist here is an expert in straightening treatments and blowouts and they just automatically do a straight blowout for every customer unless you tell them you don't want that. So it frustrates me when I go back to the states and the stylist dries my hair the way they would dry a straight haired person, with the rough dry technique. The results are just not as straight and silky.
@Kimmie5462 ай бұрын
@@Kay2be2mr I live in Miami, HEAVILY hispanic...I am PRO at that curly hair, and YES< I do rough dry all hair. ALL HAIR. And my blowdries last a week on these clients. The assessment that it "only works on people with mostly straight hair" is FALSE! My hair is not straight and i do it the SAME WAY.

Abbey, Bumble and Bumble now has a soft hold styling cream, the "Bumble and bumble Hairdresser's Oil Long Last Styling Cream." I picked it up in Sephora a few months ago expecting nothing and I love it. I've used up about a quarter of the tube just using it every wash (I also wash 3x a week). I have wavy, frizzy hair but I style my hair into waves with a round brush and my blowdryer. I pretty much accepted my hair style is a day one situation and then the next few days, it falls quite a bit, but with the B&B, it actually holds its shape pretty well! Of course it isn't a strong hold product, but I prefer that since I like my hair to feel very soft and touchable. The new Keratase Ultime oil is also MAGIC. I got a sample and holy moly it makes my greying, slightly wirey hair SO soft and frizz free. I rushed out to Sephora the next day for a full size. I put a pump in my hair every day and cannot leave home without it now.

I’m obsessed with the revlon blow dryer brush! I dry my roots with a regular blow dryer and then use the revlon on the low setting (less damage!) and then touch up any spot with a flat iron. It sounds like a lot but it’s so much fast than what I used to do because I have frizzy hair!

I have a Revlon that I travel with- it gets very hot but dries my hair very quickly. Mostly when I’m traveling I want my hair to dry as fast as possible. At home I have the L’ange le volume- it is only slightly slower than the Revlon but doesn’t get as hot.

I don’t trust the heat protection in leave-in conditioning sprays alone to protect my hair from hot tools post-blow dry. I’ve been told by multiple hair stylists that leave in conditioner is not enough on its own, as it’s a multi tasking product it’s mainly just enough protection for whatever heat your hair is exposed to upon blow drying. You’re often also not applying enough of those as well to fully coat your hair as they are thicker/heavier than a traditional heat protectant sprays. I will always stand behind using a product intended JUST for heat protection before going in with any straighteners / curling wands on dry hair since they are way more damaging.

I personally apply leave-ins right when I get out of the shower before drying my hair at all. I’ve noticed a huge difference in the way my air dries when I do this. I learned heat protectant we put in our hair when it’s wet, is the first defense only for the blow dry. If we’re going to then go in with a hot tool, then we need to add another heat protectant. Same if we style again on day two or three, add another heat protectant. Also when you said to not keep the hot tool in your hair for very long to avoid heat damage… I get so anxious when I see people doing videos leaving the curling iron in the same piece of hair for like 30 seconds. Like I’m just waiting for the entire thing to detach from their head into the curling iron. 🔥 I leave mine in the curling iron for literally three seconds. 😊

This was so helpful! I have naturally curly hair and have been wearing it curly my entire life. But, I’m tired of the LONG time it takes to dry. Like 5-7hrs even when I diffuse! And I don’t always have great hair days & it ends up in a bun. I also have thinner spots due to Cvd hairloss & perimenopause hairloss. So,,,I’ve been wearing my hair straighter the past 2wks. Dries SO MUCH faster! Also hides my thin crown & spots due to no curl clumps. 😊 I use a heat brush by Bondi Boost as the final step bc my hair is coarse. And bc it wants to curl. All your hair videos are helpful. Even when I was curly. Thank you!!
I'd love to see a comparison video between the Shark dryer and the Shark Flex styler. I'm a stylist, and my 3 year old Dyson dryer decided to cut out on me after only 6 days of regular use in the salon!! I think that she realized that it's ok to wash your hair as often as you need to due to oiliness. I think she was doing once a week, and it just wasn't enough to keep her scalp clean, so she started washing as often as needed to keep her scalp clean, which is the most important thing. Hope this helps. If your scalp is healthy with once a week, it's fine.

(I just asked because I have very fine hair and try and use as little product as possible, and sometimes trying to eliminate a heat protectant and just blow dry with cold air; is it just that it’s uncomfortable for people who live in cold climates?)

I have fine hair but a lot of it and drying with cold air takes twice as long for me. In that extra time I feel like it’s more manual manipulation of my hair so I’m still getting breakage. Usually I dry with warm and finish off with cool OR I use the Laifen dryer that has a cycle that continuously changes from hot-warm-cool. That dryer is amazing!

So how do you feel about sleeping with wet hair to get headless curls?

Do you apply your leave in products and serums on before brushing it out?

I have seborrheic dermatitis on scalp. I’m between the inkey list treatment or the dermazen treatment for the scalp. I use head and shoulders daily clean shampoo, not your mothers dry shampoo, redken multi use/leave in conditioner, and Sebastian hairspray.

First of all, the dove hair mask!!! My hair has literally never been softer. Second, do you have thoughts on the Bio Ionic Long Barrel Styler? And lastly, do you still offer your hair care guide for sale? Thanks for all you do--you’re my absolute go to 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I think the way you brush your hair could be described a “Fluttering” through the hair. Great video! 😁

I have seen that Laifen hairdryer are also pretty good and they are affordable. Plus they tend to have multiple offers and different hairdryer deppending on your needs. It's on my wishlist for a while, but all the reviews I have seen are pretty good, just in case you want to try a new one ^^

How long does it take your hair to air dry 80%?

May you please talk about blowdrying hair from wet to dry on the cool setting on the blowdryer? I imagine this would take way longer if drying 15 cm away from hair
