Loving Editor Emily’s little interjections lol Long time TT follower, and new YT follower. I’ve been binging your videos and they are so good. Are you doing a brush showdown soon? Did I dream that? I hope it’s coming! Also would love a trichology video about what hair looks like under a microscope when it is in different stages I.e. healthy, damaged, weak, protein overloaded/underloaded (lol), product buildup, etc. I feel like we hear so much about the state of hair and what to do from a practical perspective but something scientific and visual would be so fun.

Abbey could you make a video or short or series of shorts on how to flatten a damaged cuticle? I know you’ve talked about this but can you make some content dedicated to this specifically? I’ve been using k18 and doing your bond repair stuff but those little scragglies still pop out along my hair shaft albeit much less than before but on a rainy day forget about it lol. I’m not expecting magic but getting a bit of a deep dive into smoothing out the hair cuticle as best as possible would be really great and super helpful. I am curious about this as well! But I will say, I have tried product lines she has recommended like the dove bond strength and the L’Oréal bond line and they work SO well for my virgin hair. I do use heat sometimes so I just don’t use the bond treatment every week, only once a month but the shampoo and conditioner are amazing! I was using a very high end line before and decided to give L’Oréal a try and I am not disappointed
@deboratron

@@benistheproblem all of these products can also be used on virgin hair. The idea of “virgin hair” is only regarding whether it has been dyed. All hair is subject to damage just by everyday wear and tear. If you’ve ever worn your hair down or put it up in a ponytail, you have some amount of damage
@StephanieP3

@@lauralfitzgerald542I agree. I just got the bond strength by dove today and I’ll be using it later. Hoping it works for me. I have a lot of frizz and fly aways. I haven’t dyed my hair in like 17+ years so just day to day damage, and I don’t use heat often.

healthy virgin hair doesn't need lots of products. A simple wash, condition and if blow drying just a light leave in. Keep it simple. I use a light texture spray if I'm going to be curling my hair and want it to hold for a night out but most of the time just a simple leave in works fine. Try buying sample sizes of things till you find what you like.

@@Saphira_247 I do use the Coconut penetrating oil that I believe was also mentioned here. But I’ve used it as a post-wash styling product. My hair is coarse enough that it works well. Rather than scrunching product in, I take my hair in two sections, half over one shoulder, and kinda bend over a bit, and put my hair between my hands in like prayer hands and pull down the strands (pancaking the hair). That gives me maximum coverage per side. Then I repeat the other side. I hope this wasn't confusing...

I'm going to put it out there that I hate the Living Proof. I've seen countless others have the same problems. Makes hair drier, protein over load damages hair, leaves a horrid residue, etc.. Biggest waste of money for me. Unfortunately I bought the larger sized bottle and am stuck with it. Protein over load causes dry, brittle and dull hair. I'd only suggest using it for extremely damaged hair. i do like the OGX leave in light coconut oil which doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

But my real question is: what other heat protection would you recommend to use on dry, color treated and wavy hair? Thanks for all your great videos and cheers from Italy 😀

For a moment, I thought KZbin had deleted my comment or taken down your video. Hey Abbey, I recently visited a dermatologist, and she informed me that my hair is genetically predisposed to damage, and there's little I can do about it. I'm struggling with hair thinning and severe breakage. I've observed that my hair breaks easily ( prematurely), and feels dry, straw-like, and frizzy. Interestingly, I've noticed that the inner parts of my hair and my baby's hair are softer and healthier than the outer parts. I've tried everything from high-end products to drugstore options, and I don't even use heat on my hair. At this point, I'm at a loss as to what the problem might be. ( just reposting my comment 😅)

The roots get oily really fast, but drying my hair takes a life time. The last 1/3 of my hair and the ends never get oily. For the ends I use hair mask, conditioner and leave in conditioner. Because my hair gets tangled almost instantly. Can you give an opinion on my hair situation? Best wishes💐

How much do you think all these products cost- for all your routines? Pre cleanse, scalp, shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, leave in conditioner, heat protectant, bond repair and styling products? 😳

I’m glad you posted this because I’ve been feeling like the Color Fanatic LIC spray I have been using is too heavy for my naturally wavy but fine hair. Do you have any suggestions for a very light weight LIC?

I have fine wavy hair and I also find the Pureology leave-in conditioner too heavy unless my hair is just extra dry. I prefer the Redken One United leave-in conditioner. It never weighs down my hair.

I love your videos! Thank you so much for always being so thorough!! II'd love it if you could do a video on products that have come out for graying hair. I have seen some that claim to reverse graying, and I'd love to hear your expert opinion on whether or not that could ever work (I'm guessing the answer is no). I'd also love to hear your advice for how to best care for gray hair; for instance, should it be treated as if it is dry/damaged? I know that you're too young to have gray hair, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts regarding the science behind graying and the products that supposedly help aging hair. Thank you!!

I LOVE the Camel Glow hair growth oil. I could never grow my baby hairs out before but I've been using it consistently for a year and seeing massive improvement regarding thickness and new hair growth. Also switching your parting and being mindful about tight hair styles can help. And a temporary fix is using hair fibre sprays to cover the thinning spots. Hope that helps!

My hair feels softest/silkiest/lightest when it's freshly washed, and then as it gets dirtier it doesn't ever LOOK oily or dirty, it just gets rougher. I swear I could never wash it and it would never look oily/dirty, the texture would just get worse and worse. When my hair gets rough and dry, I try to add oil to it (like a little bit of the olaplex oil or bumble and bumble to the lengths and ends before bed) but it actually gets ROUGHER? No matter what I do, my hair ends up looking dry and damaged a few days after I wash it, but then when I wash it again it's restored. I've never seen anyone else talk about this, did you read about it in your trichology course and do you know what to do?

Same here! Maybe our hair just needs more regular conditioning! I think I might trial wetting my hair and reconditioning in between wash days to combat this.

Same 😅 My hair from ears downwards is like a birds nest after a few days. Like you, it doesn't really look greasy or dirty. I literally just wash it to recondition it! That's why I think we should take the social media "wash once a week" advice with a pinch of salt. I wash mine twice a week now for the reconditioning!

Great video. I have been binge watching many of your videos and some multiple times. Would you mind doing an updated porosity video. I have been oiling my hair and using protein bond products, and cleansing each wash but have not seen any improvement. It's been at least 3 months and my hair still is thin, brittle and not growing. I did the porosity test where you put your hair in water - mine floats. But yet my hair is very thin, gets wet easily and dries fairly quickly. Need help. Keep up with the great content.

So when the question was asked “if my leave has heat protectant, should I still use more?” You said you don’t believe so. Then later you said for dry ironing you use living proof. So I’m confused because that is a heat protectant for dry hair before ironing.
