@@AbbeyYung yes PLEASE!!! It is so confusing out there, and I think these companies are deliberately taking advantage of women's (in particular!) fear of hair loss - especially since menopause became 'a thing' ... whilst the really positive discussions around menopause - finally recognising the real issues facing women at this time in their lives - I have noticed a HUGE amount of products being marketed specifically at peri/menopausal women .. from shampoos/conditioners to body washes/body skincare to these vitamins .. it is really cynical and dishonest IMHO. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with hair loss. My hair was falling like crazy and it occurred to me that I have a history of vitamin D deficiency so I started taking it in larger daily doses (10,000 ius) for a couple weeks and then back to 5000 ius/day and my hair stopped falling out and is back to normal. Hallelujah!! 🙌🙏😊

I lost about 50 percent of my hair in the past year. I wasn’t taking the vitamin D. I’ve been deficient for years because I don’t go into the sun anymore. I just started taking vit d like a month and a half ago. I’m hoping it will help. Cause I have an appt for the dermatologist for the hair loss next month.
@Pamela-B2 ай бұрын
@@mistytells I should have added to make sure you’re taking Vitamin K2 with the D. It helps with absorption. Good luck to you!

Just about all of the people in the upper Northern parts of the USA are deficient in Vit D. Crazy that physicians don’t routinely check it.
@Vjestica72 ай бұрын
10 000 ius is really not too large dose, that is the amount you get after being out in summer for 20 mins. I take 10000-15000 per day for years and it cured my depression. Also take care to take D3 together with K2 as only vitamin D alone can mess up calcium distribution in your body, K2 prevents that.

I'd love an episode in this series to be about products for greying hair. I've seen ads for products claiming to slow the greying of hair and am stumped by how a shampoo/conditioner could do that.
@leahmarie1123 күн бұрын
Greying is a biological thing that is determined by your hormones at the root of the hair follicle. The hair that your shampoo/conditioner touches is already dead and surely can’t be an influence on greying. Even the healthiest of people can go grey early. It just is what it is.

Yes!! Thank you for mentioning the predatory nature of hair growth vitamins. I have alopecia areata and when I had my first flare up I was influenced by the marketing for hair growth vitamins and wasted money (and precious time) on them. For anyone that has hair loss... do not waste your time with over the counter products for hair loss (like hair growth vitamins, rosemary shampoos/oils, etc.). See a dermatologist ASAP before buying these products because time is often of the essence if it is related to an autoimmune issue and they will not help you if you have AA (or any other form of autoimmune hair loss).

Thank you, Abbey. I started doing DIY scalp scrubs many years ago. I just wet my hair, massaged my scalp with ANY conditioner and regular table sugar, then rinsed, shampooed, and conditioned. It feels really good, but I don’t think there’s any lasting benefit. I just do it now and then when I have the time and feel like I want extra self care. Word of caution: I have dark hair, 4N, and I did it too close to getting my hair colored. It dyed my scalp, though that was easily remedied by my regular hair care routine. I’m guessing any chemical service shouldn’t be done right after using any scalp scrub 🤷🏻♀️

Since I bought The Dyson air wrap last year, along with the blow dryer attachment. It has changed my hair game! Dyson really does know how to innovate with their products. The science behind their products truly speaks. It’s expensive, don’t get me wrong but best investment towards my healthy hair regimen now that I’m in my mid thirties. 12:06 But everything else you’ve mentioned since the expensive heat tools - I agreed ! So true. I have medium density hair only and wavy, technically it does not look like I have a lot of hair at all, but it is definitely not fine hair - basically that is what I am trying to say. But somehow, my hair likes getting a mask as well as a conditioner in my routine, idk, it just works. Scalp scrubs: I have always found this category ridiculous, so far no matter how many products I have been using, using a good sulfate shampoo has always cleansed everything away. One similar product for which I have found use though when I use a gentler shampoo is a salycilic acid scalp treatment before shampooing.

One must be careful saying there is a difference in length if a model has curly or coiled hair, such as Sugar Bear model #1. The hair can appear substantially longer in the after picture by straightening or styling with less curl or coil. Also tilting of the head differently can change the apparent hair length in photos taken from behind.
