Great to see some of my local walks on the Quantocks and Exmoor to watch. Lydeard Hill is also a favourite of mine and have done this walk many times, but in the past have tended to go via Aisholt Common, Quantock Combe and back via Rams Coombe and Crowcombe Park Gate. The Quantocks is also where I did most of my training for my first backpacking trip of the West Highland Way. As soon as the lockdown is eased, I intend to be back out again.

I have a lot of love for the Quantocks, Abbie. I love how you can maintain height once you're up and walk for several miles. I generally prefer heading north to Beacon Hill, as it tends to be less busy than Wills Neck. I do like how the MacMillan Way crosses Wills Neck. How you come across the Greenway routes? Interesting, challenging but somehow avoidig two high points! I'm always grateful for the number of free car parks surrounding the Quantocks. Those prices are on a par with the Malverns and still cheaper than in Cheddar! Congrats on your qualifications and best of luck with your ML assessment.

A superb walk, despite the mud (!), and a good video. There looked to be quite a few opportunities for some stealthy wild camping. What are the Forestry Commission employees / Park Rangers like about this? Do they turn a "blind eye" or do they rigorously enforce a "no camping" policy?
@AbbieBarnesWILD6 жыл бұрын
Well, you shouldn't really wild camp anywhere that you don't have the landowners permission........ But(!) yeah you probably could get away with it :) I wouldnt suggest it when they are logging though! and they would defo enforce it on the Quantocks, so stealth mode is key!

Cheers for that.

I still think the north of England as the most stunning scenery more than the South, sorry if I sound prejudice but I have experienced both. ATB Alan
