Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your story. I was sent home from training for failing the tests. It was one of the most difficult days of my life, and I have received some harsh criticism. Like you, I picked myself up and use the situation as a learning tool and I plan to reapply in 75 more days. I have learned ways to memorize material and in the end it made me a better person. Your videos and advice is excellent. You have helped so many people to achieve their dream. Good work!

You’re definitely in the proper career just from your ability to talk a lot…(I am glad that you gave us the basic answer immediately to us/your subscribers of why you got fired and then decided and were brave enough to explain in details…it is unfortunate that you called before 7pm (you said that you weren’t supposed to call before 7pm, so hopefully FAs will learn from your mistake of calling before 7pm,..the back way). At my airline we don’t have that type of system…when we see a trip and are still on reserve we are ALWAYS told that the trip is NOT our trip until Crew Scheduling gives us positive contact (through a Phone Call), but I am glad that you were able to become a Flight Attendant at another airline, also I am a Libra. YaY for Libras. I am giving this video a Thumbs UP for your bravery and determination. THANKS for posting.

Good stuff, 9020. And you have observed some accurate things. From the perspective of the airlines, it is NOT a wise move to terminate a great employee over a situation like this. There are new hires (who slip through the cracks) that come on line and show terrible attitudes, make willfully bad decisions, or exhibit routinely bad behavior. Those new hires? You fire them. This one particular story does not really merit a termination. Perhaps a new union contract is in order! Hahahaha. Because no way that would have happened at my airline. And my comments are made from the perspective of the airline-not the flight attendant. Too much time and money invested to terminate an employee over a single occurrence. Trust me, there are plenty of bad apples. Fire them.

Working for the Private Security Industry for 12 years.. It's not easy.. Been through some of the worse working conditions ever!!.. I'm just now waiting on my online interview for Delta Airlines ✈️️ this came from another, KZbinr who I have watched over the years. Also said her company was highering.. So I took the opportunity.. If I get this position. This can change my life for the better and I can't wait.. I'm soo ready for this challenge in my life.

Agree on the guidance since Abbie was wothin the 6 months probation. One way is to escalate to senior management, even at Director level. This is part of efficiency. Wow Abbie, what a story. As a 30 year Southwest flight attendant, I could have much to say about this story. But the cliff notes version would go something like: I am surprised they terminated you for this. I wonder if they would do that today? I doubt it. Because even if I think of it from the airlines' perspective: Why would you invest so much time and money on an employee, only to shun them away for a reason that is not really a detriment to the desired process? A simple mistake. If an employee turned to have a bad attitude, or made a willingly bad mistake, etc, then, Ok. You let them go. But the money invested in people is not a trivial amount. A mishap like yours is not so uncommon, really. In my own experience, I can think of a time or two where I could have easily been fired. But for whatever reason, I guess the Lord wanted me to remain. Dumb luck. And I guess He wanted you to meet Mr Unger. I think you should keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing. Few questions if I may: Don't they give you 3 mistakes/chances when you're on probation? 2- When you are fired, can you re-apply for the same airline? 3- Did you put your United work experience on your resume (since you were fired) or did you leave it out of your resume? Would appreciate the help. Thanks.
@Dominicano809
@Dominicano809 9 ай бұрын
Typically, when on probation with any airline, the number of chances given depend on the severity of the occurrence and taking into account their overall performance. When you are fired, one can re-apply, however, you are not re-hireable so the system will reject your application
@AB-hx9hs
@AB-hx9hs 9 ай бұрын
@@Dominicano809 Why are you not re-hireable ? People make mistakes and change and improve so why not be given a 2nd chance? And is that legal to mark someone un-hireable ? Thanks.

@@AB-hx9hs Totally agree and I could not say for certain why that is the way it is, but seems to be the general policy. It is legal to mark someone not rehireable, what is not legal is for that company to share such details as to why.

Sounds like my case no same year there. Mine was in 2008.But I never went to training because before the date I was supposed to go San Francisco for medical check, I received a letter from United airlines stating that the flight attendant training in Chicago for my class and all classes were canceled indefinitely because of the economic situation of the country and high fuel prices. Thousands of flight attendants were let go too! It was when George W. Bush invaded Iraq. I always blamed that opportunity on George Bush. I tried so many times to be selected and failed! And once I finally successfully aced an face to face interview and hired to go to training everything went south! I have never been disappointed in my life, I remember when I finished reading the letter I felt the earth giving away 💔 😔 😢! And the irony of destiny is whenever I travel passengers and crew members think I am a flight attendant. I traveled a lot for vacation or visiting family as a result of my desire to a flight attendant! One time going to Paris with Delta I happened to wear same color shirt than the crew of that ✈️ flight on B 767. I was going to the bathroom when a lady said to me sir can I have a bottle of water for my child. I said sure and went to the kitchen and to the flight attendant. The flight attendant grabbed a bottle of water and headed to the seat number I told her, I was following behind her since I was going to the bathroom, when we reached the lady she realized that I was not part of the crew and she apologized and said: "I thought you were a flight attendant". We all laughed and I the flight attendant said: do you know when you were boarding the plane we searched you on PNR(passenger name records) because the entire crew fought you were a flight attendant.

Miscommunication between a FA and a crew scheduler. On a day off, UA is hiring, passport, cs experience, willing to relocate, asked to interview in person in IAD. Washington Dulles in Washington DC. Invited to i go to Chicago, so far so good. Got the job, great for you. Yes your life will change. 8 week training in Chicago. Sent to Dcasw/IAD/BWI. Ready RSV at home, CLLR on call with trips (better than ready) But you don’t have a trip until it is given to you at 7 pm. Being early check in at BWI. Left for airport at 330 am. Printed schedule it was wrong. Trip starts in IAD not BWI. So late for third trip. Missed trip. You had no union support from union while on probation, but you should have asked for union assistance. Except that United does not release a probationary flight attendant on a single incident. The only exception is for illegal activity on the job, fighting, sexual harassment, stealing, etc. They did not do this anytime since I’ve worked for them which started in 1990. Same division. Starts with a letter caller an interim warning. What else happened? Something else is missing from this story. Are you back at United after the merger?
