Ten years ago tomorrow our son went on to heaven at the age 14. He never was able to walk or speak or sing but he LOVED this song and beamed from ear to ear the entire time. His name was Clay. Remembering. Thank you.

Having been raised in the Seattle, Washington projects in the 60's, I remember going to black a church & being the only white girl I stuck out like a sore thumb. I was welcomed & encouraged to sing. Living in a violent home, the church & it's people were my saving grace. This video brings back fond memories of my childhood :-)

I sang this with my sister and my dad in his home hospice bed. The Reverend was sitting on the porch leaning into the windowsill next to my dad’s bed. It was Covid 2020. My dad just spontaneously started singing this song and we all joined in. What a memory. I love you dad. You are always with me.

What an arrangement!, This is what Black, SOuthern Baptist Gospel is all about. There's Tony from Rufus on Guitar, Rose Stone on solo and whoever is on Drums, he's "whaling them skins", Of course the Choir is Outstanding esp w/ the last ending segment with that powerful soulful goose bump driving ending solo by the Sister that brought it home! In the DVD extras, there’s a fast-paced collage of outtakes of Irma P. Hall (Mrs. Munson) rapid-fire smacking Marlon Wayons (Gawain) in the face repeatedly-truly hilarious! (Looks like they had fun, though I have to believe that his face got sore after a while, lol!)
