@@rsfilmdiscussionchannel4168 I mean, Harper lied to Abby for months, only telling her she's not out yet, like 5 mins before arriving (Peer pressure much?), pretty much forced her girlfriend into going back into the closet. (I think that there's nothing funny to the idea of going back to the closet) She ignores Abby, dismissed her feelings and gets defensive when she's asked why she spent the night taking shots with her ex. All of this happens in 5 days. Now I know these are fictional characters, it's hard to translate it in real life but I'm pretty sure Harper's behaviour can be seen in other aspects of their relationship. Harper and her family are so odious that I didn't want this situation to resolve. I wanted Habby to get the fuck out of there. Harper was absolutely not ready for a relationship-there was no reason she had to treat Abby like shit. Someone having deeply homophobic parents who they can't or don't want to come out to doesn't mean they're personally not ready for a relationship, though. Someone who's not out to their parents needs to be open to their partner about that and their partner gets to decide whether or not they want that kind of relationship dynamic. Where Harper went wrong was that she didn't give Abby the chance to make that choice. She told lies and kept secrets.

people have to put both sides into perspective yes harper wasn't ready to come out to her family but that didn't mean she had to completely neglect Abby... if you guys don't recall in the movie this is clearly her first time actually celebrating Christmas since her parents died so to jump into a Christmas celebration that you were never to found of with your closeted girlfriend who doesn't even bother to hang out with you at all is kinda harsh....if you had a friend, not a girlfriend or boyfriend, just a friend over would you leave them completely out or would you still try to make them feel welcomed it's not that hard to manage a situation like this when you consider everyone in the situation... harper was in a tough spot, yes, but that certainly didn't mean she couldn't have handled it in a better was clearly by this or at least in this situation she was very very toxic...Riley, on the other hand, treated Abby like a better friend without anyone but HARPER thinking they are too much around each other or anything else than a friend and everyone knows that RILEY IS GAY, so as you can see it possible to make someone feel welcomed with out having to exploit that you guys are dating....{but in my opinion Riley and Abby could've built a better relationship and would've been an awesome couple}

Riley and Abby were soulmates and no one can convince me otherwise

Riley will try to get with her, since now she stayed in town with Harper. They'll be close friends and something will happen

I was rooting for Abby to get with Riley throughout the whole film.. like if you think about it.. Even if they were JUST friends.. the situation Harper put Abby in is still shitty.. Like no privacy, accusing of stealing, belittling, pitying her .. girl RED FLAG! And that's not even before the complexities of the situation she put her in as her girlfriend!

I watched this movie finally and was practically in tears. I felt it so much. I’m in my 20’s and still not out because homophobia is so rooted in my family. And being the only child doesn’t help because you can’t be the disappointment child, you’re the only one lol. To this day I honestly rather die then my parents ever find out. While Harper did not treat her well I totally understand what she was going through and her fear

Like I totally understand not being out cuz it’s scary and I’m not out to a lot of people I know but it would get so old being Abbey like I could never. When Harper said she wasn’t a lesbian (fuck you sloan) and Abbey walked out it was so painful.

As much to see Abby been hurt, when Harper for denying she wasn’t gay. Which kinda don’t blame her, because it wasn’t that on her term. Sloane purposely outed her in everybody for a selfish reason. Sloane had no right to do that to Harper and I hated her for do that.

Don't find it even a little bit funny or clever. To me it is abuse and awful and the worst degree and forcing your own insecurities on to others. It minimizes and forces you into a block and corner which she never should have to be in. It's quite frank - disgusting and just like 2020 I hope this kind of thought process goes away.
