ABC - "Mantrap" Pt 1

I hope that director Julian Temple gets all the master film reels and assembles a COMPLETE concert film WITHOUT the story film part. ABC's debut tour was the BEST sounding tour of any I've heard from the 1980s. Absolutely brilliant and deserving of a complete concert on DVD and Blu-ray release. Maybe have MANTRAP be the main feature and the entire concert the bonus feature.

Ditto on looking for this for the longest time! The bass line on this segment is absolutely fantastic! The only time I ever got to see it was way back when it came out on MTV and I had missed the begining of it. This is one of the best albums of all time. Thanks so much for the post!

I had this, when it was released on...get this....video disc (an early 80's technological relic, replaced by vhs). The music is still amazing, the sets are beautiful, the story is...nonexistent, but who cares? It was a fun folly and the clothes! Oh, what a great time it was for style, fashion and creativity. Plus, the wonderful James Villiers is in it (Look him up in Wikipedia to learn about his regal background and ancestry).

6:28 this is a big deal to me...ill have you all know im 36 and at the moment i heard this bass line at 6:28 i was blown away..i wanted to play bass like that...duran duran and hair cut 100 also gave me the bug....but the bass on this licks! I dont know if he is using a fretless or some effect but i love this stuff and i play this style all the time.. D

@shazam99 - As a matter of fact I have a copy of Mantrap on Laserdisc, which I purchased in 1984. I also have a Duran Duran video collection on Laserdisc. The player is long gone, but I have the discs. I watched Mantrap over and over as a teenager and even had a suit similar to Fry's tailored for me. Good times, those.

@shazam99 I actually have the LD and I have a copy of the LD to DVD. Sadly, they are in storage on the other end of the country. I went to London two years ago to see ABC do The Look Of Love album with the BBC orchestra, fantastic!

Great Band. Love 'em! Lexicon & Beauty Stab two of my favourite 80's lps. I'd like this movie on DVD. Bands are shite today! Ha! Ha! Hate the way people rave on about Coldplay, Schmoleplay and Foreplay and all that malarkey when none of these bands ever made music that comes near the Lexicon of Love. Viva La 80's! :)

@1969atam You know I feel the same way about Coldplay. They are marked as this "intelligent band" but really most of their music is mediocre, just that. Now ABC.... their music was sharp and dynamic and chaning through whatever was out and making it in! Lexicon of Love is an excellent LP and I still enjoy all their albums today! Please release this movie on DVD with extras!! While I am wishing, can I have a brown pony that sings Coldplay songs?
