Super helpful video! thank you. I would love you to make a video on resources for parents to supplement their kids learning at home in an effort to get them ready for "gifted" testing. There's a need for more children of color in gifted and stem programs and there's a lack of info on how a working parent can help their child learn and hone their skills. Having gone through that for both my kids, i can tell you that the prevalent narrative is that a gifted child is "born with it" and that's simply, not necessarily, the case.

That sounds great! I know many parents are not aware of the process to have their child tested for a gifted IEP.

I tried both but my son at five got to distracted by all the other things and wouldn't do the learning path. With Khan academy he doesn't get as distracted. Because of this I didn't want to pay. When he's a bit older to comprehend that he has to get the tickets to buy new things, I'll try it out some more. I also like the idea of the older one so I'll probably definitely try them out later in our homeschooled journey. For now Khan is a huge hit for him he loves sitting and doing it with me

Thank you for this comment and the OG the video review.....I was considering this as combined bday present for 2yr old and 4yr old (first yr of preschool) but I think with them being young I will stick to the free option and save $40 Khan will prob be enough for them

Also as somebody who is blind and autistic, the voices on ABCmouse are not as obnoxious as Khan Academy kids for me who has sensory issues. My favorite thing though about Khan Academy Kids is the books. One of my favorite things is books so that would make sense. And I also love that there's an actual lesson plan. But reason I like ABCmouse is cuz lesson plan is a little more organized.

I am currently using ABCmouse and loving it! I tried Khan Academy kids and after a while I just got bored with it. Activities didn't change as much as ABC Mouse so I got bored easier. I like when the activities change and you're not always doing the same thing.

@@doovie101 I don’t have a child. I use ABC mouse as an adult who is blind and autistic that in some areas does not function at an adult level.

Thank you for taking the time to do this review! I wanted to add a note, if you do not have a tablet you can not use Khan Academy Kids. My kids use a PC and we do not have tablets for them.

We’ve done ABC Mouse before but didn’t continue with it bc I needed to be there to help my son (4 yo) navigate everything... and I was looking for something that he could work on independently. We are getting a Kindle Fire for him for Christmas, and I’d love to get your thoughts on great apps to use with that tablet!!! I don’t know where to start!

oh my gosh, start with abcmouse but then transition to khan! it helped my little brother who has motivation issues.

great simple review. we tried abcmouse in the past & I agree it’s too distractive. Yesterday I was using Khan academy & it has a lot of good things for reading. Homer is good but khan academy is free. I was thinking about trying reading egg but I think I will stick with khan academy.

Abc mouse does not work for me on my first day of testing they are charging me and it does not allow me to access, nor do I have a response from customer service.

I do not believe the app alone is considered homeschooling, but it can certainly be a resource. You might consider joining a homeschool co-op where you can connect with other homeschooling parents and share resources.

Helpful video! I use khan academy kids and plan to add ABC mouse next month to their curriculum. I’m worried they will get distracted a little with ABC Mouse because it seems to have a lot going on

Thank you so much for this! I'm struggling to decide what to get my sister. She is constantly on her tablet and it frustrates me. So instead of taking it out on her, I've really been trying to break that toxic mentality! Technology is the norm now and I want to be able to provide her with some useful activities!
