My mom has been a big fan of General Hospital for many years, I'm sure she was watching this back in the day while taking care of 17-month-old me at home. ^_^ RIP Stuart Damon and Jacklyn Zeman.

As a little baby, I wasn’t a fan of soaps, but “General Hospital” was one of them that my grandmother used to watched. The first half of the closing credits was from around 1979, but they continued into the 1990’s where it was replaced by credit crunches with the promos to go with it which is very annoying to this day. “General Hospital” has been on ABC since the 1960’s where it continues to this day, and it’s one of two remaining soaps for the network. Look what happened to CBS, they got rid of “Guiding Light” and “As The World Turns” and on NBC, they got rid of “Days Of Our Lives” since it’s on Peacock, and it was replaced with nothing but boring news.

@@Musicradio77Network I don't think anyone really notices or cares enough about the loss to television with the loss of soaps, especially the training ground aspect.

@@kengeorgejones6855 - And not just with the soaps, either. On the local front, there used to be the kids' shows and the dance shows and the lifestyle shows . . . hey, Chicago alone had Bozo (WGN), BJ & Dirty Dragon (WFLD & WGN), Garfield Goose (WBBM & WGN), and so forth.
@kengeorgejones6855 Жыл бұрын
@@wmbrown6 I used to watch Bozo through WGN. It's a shame there's nothing comparable now.

Thank you for sharing these soap opera rarities. As you said, this is a great reminder of how integral Jackie Zeman was to GH for years, and to when soaps actually had aftermaths for storylines. Beyond those moments, it's great to see wicked Tracy Quartermaine.

Jeese I had to work nights 1979 and remember all these faces from daytime TV. I wanna say I remember the faces by flipping thru the few chnls we had. I never actually watched them.

Haha, this actually wasn't much different from ABC '85, when I was in first grade, coming home to catch the tailend of General Hospital, before I could switch to the afterschool cartoons at 3 pm.

Soap operas. The equivalent of watching paint dry. Also, the bane of my summer vacations as my granny was addicted to them. 🤮
