I miss live radio. Sadly, it is a lost art.

She's a magician. I've watched three of these behind-the-scenes videos, and I'm amazed at her ability to juggle all those tasks, chit-chat with a guest, then deliver her audio with perfect tone, cadence, and timing.

Very impressed. Used to work for an ABC affiliate and always believed they provided a superior on air product. Glad to see what it's like behind the scenes!

I remember Cheri when she worked at WTMJ radio in Milwaukee. Great newscaster and funny off the mic too!

I remember well, when my Program Director told me that my General Manager would cringe every time he heard me read the news, so I'm thinking I was nowhere near as good as Cheri Preston.

We carry ABC News at the station I work at, and I will say your delivery is beyond impressive. I'd love to work my way up to being that professional. Great behind the scenes look.

Interesting to see this very quick with the button pushing. Although I know there are time constraints she seemed to cut people off just seconds too soon (unless perhaps she muted the speakers?).
@McPFamily Жыл бұрын
Ah, yeah that's because she turned her mic on shortly before she was to begin talking again (and when you turn the mic on, it automatically mutes the speakers to avoid feedback)

@@McPFamily Ah, that makes sense. Hadn't considered that.

Reading from a paper script! They wouldn't let us do that when I was an anchor at Westwood One. Had to read it off the computer. The newer people liked it, but old-school guys like me would rather have the hard copy. I begged them for it. They said, "Join the 21st Century, Dave!"

Yeah I listen to WJJY 106.7 Hubbard Radio and I hear paper flopping in the background so it be heard on air!

When you go to watch a BBC comedy show live (say, at the Edinburgh Fringe or something) they have a way of turning the pages of the script over very smoothly and slowly right next to the mic. You never hear it at all.

Consummate Professional the Delivery was flawless. When I worked at an ABC affiliate.. The National spot was Time For a short Smoke break. OOUTSIDEOr rush to the Potty..sip a Coke from the station break room

As a radio guy, having the mic pot on the right is boggling to me.

She is rather fetching in her outdoors shirt. That's a custom board. No copy stand for her news copy because pages might rattle.

ABC always had a history of custom built consoles. As an Engineer, I find that very exciting.
