Quick ruling. Vanity's emptiness does not negate the effect of mask change, it only stops the summon. So your shadow mist of whatever hero you use mask change on still goes to the grave as part of the effect of mask change, but the special summon doesn't happen.

Vman87 Just a brief idea of what mask change does exactly... mask change cost is to target ur hero monster. It doesnt say u need to send it to the graveyard to activate it. So when he chained vanity on mask change, the special summon is negated and ur hero monster stays on the field and your mask change goes to the graveyard. This is coming from a guy whos playing hero deck from 3 years. Hope my information was helpful

Lanzador Lootah if you read mask change, it says send the monster to grave THEN summon the hero. Yes true, it's not cost but it's still part of the effect. Vanity's isn't negating the summon or the eff so it still resolves as much as possible, but the only thing that doesn't happen is the special summon.

i think you need to ask someone else regarding this.. even though im pretty sure the hero monster that was targeted by mask change still stays on the field

Lanzador Lootah why would the monster stay on the field? The way mask change is worded, you send the monster whether or not you can summon the Fusion afterwards.
