My wife and I went to see ABC and Howard Jones this weekend. My wife only knew this song from ABC. We enjoined the set list. She told me that even if she got Wedding Singer Movie vibes she said they they sang better then anyone popular on the air and even comment how good the saxophone play was. Sadly saxophone seems to be MIA in music today. Howard Jones was also great too. Good time all around

Love this song. I grew up in Detroit and would go down to where the Motown recording studio was because my mom worked at the hospital across the street and my grandma's doctors office was 2 doors down from Hitsville USA. So just having that connection with Smokey Robinson and the Motown greats was always pretty cool. Then years later I had a grey cat named Smokey and his meow was so rhythmic that it sounding like he was often harmonizing and crooning like no other cat I have ever known. Unfortunately he left us too early from kidney failure but whenever I hear ABC's song I'm always transported back to that little kid in the 70's and then later in life hoping my Smokey is up there singing with the best of the best and hopefully if I'm ever worthy to get to where ever he is that I'll be treated to his smooth and silky meowing once more. RIP.

Such a criminally underrated band. Superior song craft and lyricism with every release for years. Instead, a vapid UK and US music press was content to lump them into a derisive flavor of "new wave" or "synth pop." They were always so much more and STILL ARE with electrifying performances around the world today. Even more amazing to think that Fry had a terrible illness early on that derailed his career and almost killed him.
