ABC11 anchor Larry Stogner announces he has ALS, retirement

ABC11 WTVD anchor Larry Stogner announces retirement, says he's battling ALS, which is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Mr. Stogner has anchored the 6 p.m. news at ABC11 continuously since 1982, making him one of the longest-serving anchors in the nation. Stogner told viewers that he is stepping down immediately to fight ALS and spend time with his wife and family.

Devastating news...my husband had a rare case of ALS, diagnosed in March 2019, Hospice began April 29, 2019, passed away May 16, 2019 at home, The regular diagnosis is 2-5 yrs . God give you peace and your family!

ALS is such a cruel, debilitating disease. I've seen it first hand with a loved one. :-(

My mother and I both have muscular dystrophy but they're thinking she may have ALS or some people know it is Lou Gehrig's Disease. It is a terrible condition to live with as is muscular dystrophy. There are so many things that you want to do that your body just won't let you. It is frustrating but we try to live the best we can every day.
