We lived in Phelan for 20 years also and seen a lot of fires in other areas. Wrightwood has never seen a fire like this, praying for all our friends still up there. I’m curious what really started all these fires. Arson is always a concern.

I lived through the Station 🔥 Fire. It's the worst fear I felt. It all came flodding back as I drove up the 15 from San Diego. I passed the fire west of Lake Elsinore, then captured the columns of smoke from this fire as I continued up the 15, then to go west on the 210. Watching the station 🔥 Fire burn south and then west through La Canada foothills to Tujunga and Sunland. That's when we had to evacuate.

Lack of air tanker resources allowed this fire to go altogether unchecked. There were only 2 helicopters working this fire when it was 1000 acres and growing. We need more of the very large air tankers on contract in this state. They are the only thing that can stop larger fires when they build momentum. Some old firefighting pros are against large air tankers and completely underestimate the knock-down power of large payloads of fire suppressing agent. Why doesn't CALFIRE have more air resources at their disposal? Newsome is busy giving away free services to illegal immigrants but little to nothing for firefighting air resources.

No forests fires like the West because the Southwest gets year-round rain (and humidity). No area in the Southeast has ever gone 4 to 5+ months without a single drop of rain (which is normal and happens every year in California and other western states) and humidity of single digits. Just a few weeks ago where I am, we had a day where the humidity was 4%. I would be shocked if there is any place in the Southeast that has ever gone down to 34%. I'm a Southeast native...born there and spent 31 years of my life there and never was I able to pick up a handful of grass and literally grind it to sprinkles and dust in my hands like I can every summer in California. Forest management in the west requires a lot more effort than in the east. This fire (Bridge Fire) is in the Angeles National Forest....the U.S. gov't is responsible for managing it. The feds own 57% of California forests (and private landowners own another 40%).

We’re being judged for standing our ground here in pinon hills. We got 3 people with 3 hoses on our house our neighbors next doors house and the neighbors house across the street.
