That's why a doctor will suggest patients dealing with heart issues try to limit stressful activities/interactions or find coping mechanisms for dealing with stress. And in the case of extreme (and/or sudden unexpected) grief, yeah, it can either temporarily or permanently cause critical damage and stress on the circulatory system & heart muscle. It's all so very sad.

The survivors will never be the same. My uncle was a Vietnam vet. He played dead when his whole platoon was ambushed and killed. I think only he and one other soldier survived. He never would talk about it and buried it deep in his soul. He committed suicide at the age of 57. This tragedy will have ripple effects for decades.

If he stays at home and the fear builds up, then it may be much harder to deal with it in the future. @@Teal_Moon you do realize the kid was shooting outside for 10 minutes prior to walking inside the building. the cops actually didn't do anything this time. a mother was handcuffed to stop her from entering the school, she eventually got out of it and ran in and saved her two children. the cops actually didn't do anything this time.-just to reiterate.

Crazy that he had a heart attack so shortly after his wife passed.. he couldn’t stand the pain of her being gone. I feel for their kids and I hope the families of the lost children soon find some peace. As for those who survived I hope they get the help they need and their struggles don’t cripple them for life. I hope they can find a way past it and heal.

The saddest part I think no one thinks about is their kids. Your mom dies unexpectedly and is shot to death and your dad dies from heartbreak. Within the span of a few days, those children have become orphans. It’s honestly heartbreaking 💔

I’m scared to go back to school not knowing what could happen any moment. Praying for the kids who had to see their friends die, and those who had been injured as well as the Parents/Guardians who had to bury their child instead of seeing them another day safe and sound. He's not exactly in the best mindspace to make rational decisions on wherever or not he should or shouldn't be on Television. The networks need to do better to recognize when something is appropriate and when something isn't appropriate.

It's not like he is mature because he was before. He is just desensitized, about what he just witnessed. A lot of adults break crying when hard stuff happens in their lives, or when they were about to die. This kid lived something that any of us can imagine, being covered in blood and bodies of those who you used to talk and laugh about things.

For ppl saying he seems fine about it we don't know what he's like at home. A lot of us know what it's like to have put on a performance in front of others as we would not do alone. Who knows what he does when he's in his room at night, or throughout his day what he feels. He's a kid. Besides calling a little girl strong for not showing trauma and a little boy fine or saying he probably thinks it's cool or doesn't understand is very counterproductive. I can't tell if any of these kids are lucky or unlucky. The ppl that care for them were likely eating their own hair finding out someone had a gun in their kid's school. I hope that him and all those other surviving children get better and be happier and safer eventually.

I completely agree. When my dad passed on, my sister said I “was so strong for not crying”…. Little did she know how torn up I was and I would cry (not in front of her). Everyone grieves differently. Some people are more likely to grieve alone.

He's a strong kid, but strength doesn't mean you haven't been traumatized. You could especially see how hard it was for him when he said he has nightmares. Its one thing for a child to have nightmares of the Boogeyman, it's another thing for children seeing their friends die when they close their eyes at night. I'm sure his parents will get him counseling.
