Every comment defending the mother, keep your opinions. You were not there and you do not know the pain of feeling helpless when as a child one is abused. Years and years of feeling insecure, unprotected. It is a horrible feeling. Let her be. This woman will find her inner peace in her own way. The treatment towards her mother is natural. The main caregiver did nothing to protect the child. As a result, there is deep resentment. I treated my own mother the same way but after therapy, now I have put aside the sentiments. It took me 30 years to heal and I am still healing for the years of abuse I suffered at the hands of my own biological father. On one can tell us how to handle such delicate matter. This pain belongs to us and we victims of child sexual abuse will figure out how to handle it. It's quite typical of Chinese mothers to stand against their daughters even when the latter are innocent and the husbands are the perpetrators. unless we learn to let go of our ego and its pride, we will ceaselessly torture ourselves with past events. if you think about it, it's all about the "thought" of what others have done to us. the ego is the center of all this mischief. the past events is over and done with, yet the ego is full of vindictiveness and hurt. the physical trauma is long past, yet the psychological trauma is constantly being replayed by its ego. we need to detach ourselves from our ego and pride in order to heal.

I have no doubts this happens a lot in China. But rarely will you hear. Even rarer would you see someone punished. My own country India is far worse far as rape inside and outside the family is concerned. These are male dominated societies where stress and hardship are the norm. Males take them out via assault and rape on those who cannot fight back. It's considered shameful to reveal or talk about them. The police and lawyers are not interested in these things too. Both our countries need centuries to change. I am trying to sound hopeful.

It happens a lot in many countries not just in China. Victims have to come forward otherwise nobody would know about it, including authority. There are many cases like this in US, too. How can you expect her to respect these people who were supposed to protect her but didn't and kept trying to justify themselves? They do not deserve any respect at all. It's also good that she has a fiance who supported her through this. She needs to do this to find closure. Her lawyer is also very passionate and keen on the case. At least the mother agreed to be the witness to redeem herself, although what she owed her daughter is definitely much more than that but we can't turn back time. Glad that the perpetrator got the punishment that he deserves and even longer than what she had initially expected.
