Chicago novel 'I'm Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter' to become film

I haven't read this book, But being from Chicago, I'd guess her Mom wouldnt let her out wildin' past dark.

I wanted to like this book but the character is so hard to like. Like I get she has gone through so much but she goes out her way to make fun and hate on women even though she calls “herself” a feminist. Also, the character stereotypes and looks down on Mexican traditions!? Like, you could for sure tell this book was written by a pocho who barely knows anything and has little respect for her culture. I am unsure if the character was written like that on purpose (applause the author in that case) but the protagonist comes off as unlikeable.

This woman is such a flake she was suppose to read her book at my school and canceled so many times 😂
