I’m an exterminator and use 3M full face respirators: 3M FF 400 series. They used to retail for $169, during the beginning of the pandemic they were unobtainable, you could “order them” for $369 each. No one in any great numbers would use such a mask so where did they all go? And now the price has leveled to a convenient $200.

I contacted 6 hospitals, and 12 outreach centers, (that help with the impoverished and homeless), they stated they would have been happy and thankful to receive these face shields to give out to people. This reminds me of that storm that ravaged Puerto Rico in 2018 wherein the San Juan mayor was all over world news blaming President Trump for no federal aid coming in and saying that “people were dying” because of President Trump. Later it was almost totally unreported that there were several docks and parking lots literally filled with federal aid supplies that was rotting on the docks and parking lots. Never used. She was lying the entire time. It was the puerto rican truckers union being on strike because the union was demanded more money to move the cargo to where it needed to go. The mayors and the Governor had flat out rejected the truckers demands and they refused to do any driving so all that federal aid supplies was just rotting on the docks and parking lots. This is what happens when the government is too big. Too many people making too many decisions that too many people forgot to follow up with. After being on several committees at my kid's schools, I decided to chair one. Our first meeting, no one showed up except one other mom. We planned the entire Spring Festival in 30 minutes! Contacted all the other volunteers with their assignments, and we didn't have any problems that year. Too many people in on the decision making and it never goes well. This is precisely why we need to cut back on government, not continue to expand it. Nothing is nearly as difficult as the government wants us to think it is. Simply! Delagate! If a government official can't make a decision without 65 people around them, replace them with someone who can. If a state can't report to the government the progress, or lack thereof, replace them with someone who can. Only vote for people you trust to get the job done efficiently. Cut these outrages government salaries, and make sure that the 95% of government officials are now living among the rest of us. It's that simple!

Ok. It's really simple. The third dose increases immunity, so after the fourth dose you'll be protected. It's pretty rare to see anyone using those face shields. The sad thing is, that this is just an example of what often happens when a company has excess inventory of something they can't make a profit from. Huge amounts of perfectly good, unused products go into our landfills.

Those face shields are used in surgery in operating rooms in every hospital in the country, for instance I used them for every C-section I did, to protect my face and eyes from possible splashing of blood 🩸

I can't speak for ICU company but I know of another company in socal who imported a ridiculous amount of containers from China of faceshield at the beginning of the pandemic but were not approved under FDA's Emergency Use Authorization. I am faulty certain that this was another company taking advantage of the pandemic and tried to make quick money. I'm sure they did make a profit with contracts to business and governments before getting FDA'S approval. At the beginning governments everywhere made all sorts of sketchy deals with money up front paid in full from a lot of times someone with no history in what they promise they can bring. Now we are seeing the consequences of bad deals. A lot of deals are kept still hidden from the public access. We need to stop all this importing and build and support our own market, not of another country. Worst is fakes/ counterfeits of virtually everything that is some how let into this country

Agreed, those were popular in the early days but are simply no longer popular and really aren't that effective by themselves. I have some, but you still should be wearing masks for universal precautions. However, considering that nothing has been shown to effectively slow down Omicron, the best being the N(or KN)95 or triple layer molded dental masks. Further, as omicron becomes the vastly most predominant strain, its overall nature is little worse than flu. The vaccines do not help against it either. The face masks got produced by the millions, but now have been dumped. People know this and aren't buying them. Many many years ago when the USA "decommissioned" the old community fallout shelters, my father was presented with TONS of medical equipment. He was told to destroy it. He donated what he could, but ended up trashing thousands and thousands of dollars work of xray equipment, and surgical wares.
