With the first baby boy, the grandmother had gone to bed to take a nap when the little guy managed to slip out of the house and drown in a pond and with this baby girl grandma had taken the baby out to have lunch with friends then proceeded to forget about the baby on the way home and left her strapped in the car seat in a swelteringly hot SUV while she went inside and played piano which is why she and, presumably grandpa, didn't hear the baby crying? None of this makes a bit of sense. Makes me sick to even think of it.

I live in Texas where it gets to be 110 outside during the summer. I have had my German Shepherd that rides in the car with me everywhere since he was 8 weeks old, he is now 11 years old. How did the 1st child get out of the house? The grandmother and child were napping. The grandpa went to the store and had to open the latch at the top of the door to go out. The 16 month could open the door which is why they had the special latch at the top of the door. The grandmother woke up to find that child in the pond. So technically the grandpa was the one who left the door unsafe.

Let's not blame the victims' mother for wanting to trust her own mom. Such a sad story. She needs to go to jail for neglect resulting in a death. Especially since it is the second time.

From reading other comments the video doesn't give the full story of the drowning and grandpa sounds like he unfortunately contributed to it ...sounds accidental. I think this is why she let her re baby sit and the baby wasn't a toddler?? Just a thought.

The situation is really tough and sensitive but people have to understand that even if their mom was the best mom ever that was 30+ years ago and she is getting old and forgetful and less alert now.. I'm about to have a second baby and me and my husband have already agreed that our mothers are too old to watch a baby unsupervised.. It's no hard feelings, just the sad truth

Right, also the mum knew that the grandma wouldn't be alone. There was lunch gathering with a bunch of other women. Then the grandma just drive off to her house without asking her for permission.

How did the 1st child get out of the house? The grandmother and child were napping. The grandpa went to the store and had to open the latch at the top of the door to go out. The 16 month could open the door which is why they had the special latch at the top of the door. The grandmother woke up to find that child in the pond. So technically the grandpa was the one who left the door unsafe.
