Miah: The mouse ran dowwwwwwn… Hickory Dickory Dock… Hello, I’m Miah and I’m here with Kiya
Kiya: Hello!
Miah: We’re getting noisy with musical instruments today and having a dance around.
Kiya: I’ve got a triangle!
Miah: And I’m playing a tambourine.
Kiya: OK Miah, what song will we perform next?
[crackly sound]
Miah: Ooh, what was that noise? Sounds like shhhhhhhhhh
[crackly sound continues]
Kiya: What an interesting sound.
Miah: And very different to our musical instruments. Do you listening have any idea what it could be?
Miah: I’m not sure. But Kiya, let’s put our music makers down, and investigate this mysterious shhhhhh sound. Ears on!
Kiya: Ears on!
[Theme music]
Miah: Ok so we’re looking for a shhhhh sound. Hang on, Kiya, you don’t think it’s someone saying “shhhh”, to be quiet?
Kiya: Hmmm… where’s a quiet spot at Play School? Maybe near the bookshelf?
Miah: I certainly like peace and quiet when I’m reading books.
Kiya: Miah, let’s go! To the bookshelf!
[Instrumental music]
Kiya: Here we are by the bookshelf. It’s a very quiet place… so relaxing…
Emma: Hi Miah, hi Kiya!
Miah: Oh, hi Emma!
Emma: Sorry! I was just coming in to find a book to read.
Kiya: We’ve got our ears on and trying to find what’s making the noise we heard, it went sshhhhhhhh
Miah: We thought it may have been someone shushing…
Emma: Well, that wasn’t me. I don’t mind a bit of noise when I relax with a book. But you know what, a shhhh sound reminds me of falling rain on a roof…
Kiya: That is the perfect noise to hear when you’re reading a book.
Miah: I think we’ll have to keep investigating. Thanks, Emma.
Emma: Bye, Miah! Bye, Kiya!
Kiya: Bye!
[Electronic sound]
Miah: Ooh. That’s a different sound. And it was coming from the direction of the shhhh sound we heard earlier.
Kiya: It’s very surprising. It almost sounds like a robot!
Miah: Maybe it’s a robot whose job it is to stand on a roof and measure how much rain falls from the sky?
Kiya: Could be, Miah! Or a robot who doesn’t like noise, so it spends all day telling people to shoosh?
Miah: This is a tricky one. Can you listening think of what it might be?
