Ursula is one of Disney's most evil animated villains and my guess is that those doubters didn't think Queen Latifah could pull off such a notoriously mean, conniving and sneaky character...Disney fans (including me) have always "loved to hate" Ursula....their doubts were more of a testament to Queen Latifah's reputation as a fair upfront warm and affectionate professional woman...all the things that Ursula is not known for. Of course, acting involves portraying people you aren't in real life but most of us typecast actors and actresses all the time...it's very normal (not necessarily right) to stereotype or put people in certain boxes..great job Latifah!
