Honestly, the glory days of Miss Universe ended with 1997. From 1998 on it was constantly trying to redefine itself (setting a precedent of getting rid of the national costumes for the opening). Then Trump became personally involved in 2005 and amped up the sex appeal and to his credit, the titleholders got a lot of attention. After his departure, IMG turned it into a speech/essay contest and started this advocacy nonsense. MU had always had its own advocacies that its winners promote. Let's not pretend for a moment that MGI did not stole the momentum from MU was when it was under IMG. The current trio of Anne-Raoul_Osmel should bring the pageant back to its roots....if they listen to the criticism.

I haven't watched or cared about a pageant since the 90's, when I was a preteen. I.think the concept of them is outdated. It's great to acknowledge the women for their work and contributions but everything else seems a little creepy. I was in a pageant once, as a child. I absolutely hated it. Maybe it's time for a newer platform for women to be celebrated and given scholarships that isn't based on pageantry and their looks.

I wish that all the judges next year are previous Miss Universe Winners (3 from each continents) to actually be able to judge and place candidates fairly. The IMG Era of Miss Universe was at its peak where winners were all deserving due to their overall performance whether it’s about pasarela, communication skills, attitude and beauty. Only time it was a bit questionable was in 2020 when Andrea Meza won when everyone was expecting for Peru to win for doing well in both the Q&A but I heard that Andrea won as judges favoured her to win and plus her co-candidates since she is very humble and has a great attitude which is fine. Other than that since it’s JKN Era now it definitely gotten worse except 2022 when it was just handed over. Now it’s sooooo messy, half of the judges doesn’t even know or is into pageantry thus affecting everyone’s placements. For example, Philippines did very very well in her pasarela performance in the Swimsuit Portion but she wasn’t even chosen to be part of the Top 12, people complained how Canada even got in to the Top 12. In the IMG Era, it was very much fair, all candidates who were deserving to place higher were there nowadays it’s just business and who is favoured to place higher without having technical knowledge. The Top 5 in 2024 had Thailand - Owner is Thai, Mexico - Host Country, Venezuela - Co-Owner is Venezuelan. Denmark is beautiful but I think Nigeria was deserving more considering how she performed but I also heard that they only used her for clout thus why she placed 1st Runner Up. And there was also a rumour that they were looking for a candidate to win that is specifically from Europe and this was weeks before the coronation night.

Honestly I was so shocked at the Miss Universe standards this year. It was really concerning. Exactly, they sacrificed quality over quality, the question of Integrity and ethics. For example the way they capitalised on the controversy surrounding Miss Universe Nigeria without doing their own vetting process on her or the matter of the allegations level against her in South Africa was a complete shocker. It was clear they used her for views ,clout and traction. I believe that is why she was placed (not won, or made it to) 1st Runner Up Miss Universe Global 2024. What a sad gullible world! If its just allegations and accusatory as they would have the entire world believe why haven't the family and Chichi herself spoken out against these so called "allegations" in their own defence... They are nowhere to be seen because they know anything they say can and will be used against them in the court of law. Also such people who stay quiet usually bribe themselves through out illegal out court settlements to protect the rest of their corrupt dealings that would be exposed by further scrutiny. All Chichi ever cries about is being "rejected" and bullied (which I don't stand for at all) /Victimised as she keeps saying (Yet it's the Nigerians btw that keep trolling and bullying Miss Universe South Africa online for being Deaf/ Differently Abled ) but nowhere does she confirm or deny the "allegations" leveled against her. Knowing Nigerians and how they never back down from a fight, her family would have counter sued for defamation and been running "Justice for Chidinma" Campaigns!! BUT because they know what they did, they chose to run with the "victim" Narrative and these Pageant Organisations Miss Universe Nigeria and Miss Universe Global jumped on the Chichi Train without caring who they are letting down in the process. There were far more intelligent, well deserving, superior in quality and talented Contestants who were sacrificed for this politically biased so called win/ pick rather e.g Nyekachi Douglas aka Miss Rivers 🇳🇬 from the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 competition and Sakhile Zie-Dube from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 (who without controversy or scandal were able to effortlessly win the hearts of the world by being gracefully themselves). Basically Nigeria did her 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria girls dirty and Miss Universe Global capitalised on the controversy surrounding Adetshina for views, clout and traction. It was a clear business move on the Miss Universe Global organisation's part but a very dirty one on the question of standard, ethics and Integrity of the MU Pageant/Organisation.

Also, the over half of the judges were Latina's which saw a large number of Latina's making it into the top 12, many who did not deserve it... For example: Philippines did so well in the Swimsuit competition and never even advanced, while others who did worse got placement... I am over with this pageant. There have been allegations in the pageant community about the nature of Miss Denmark’s relationship with Raul Rocha who is one of the owners and has been constantly pictured with her since she’s won. Apparently he developed a soft spot for her when she visited the Miss Universe offices in the lead up to the pageant. He’s also commented on Elon Musk’s post which is not in line with the “women empowerment” movement this organisation keeps on referencing. Definitely some shady dealings happening here and I hope that Victoria isn’t being exploited by those in power who clearly can’t be trusted and are driving their own agendas.

It’s what they call “beauty with a purpose”, but actually not. And all of this is a hoax and superficial. Deep within to their purpose is purely a business at all. And nowadays, these beauty pageants are spreading toxicity all over social platforms. They don’t mind whatever negative comments from the org to those who watch them. The world is continuously evolving and the social media’s innovations is powerful. And i think the whole nation’s must eradicate the whole pageantry’s and organizations. It should be banned for a lifetime and let’s focus to what and how the government could help us of what we need or address the basic problem of the world.

Bring the ownership back to an American. Bring Paula Shugart as President, Amy as CEO, and Esther as Manager. Aside from being the founders, they mold Miss Universe into a strong organization for iver 7 decades. When Paula and other staffs left MUO last year, I knew that there's something wrong happening inside the org. Trump is actually better than Anne and Raul in owning the pageant tho I much prefer IMG. It's heartbreaking to see how those people ruin an organization mold by numerous people and thousands of candidates since then.

What made Victoria's win even more impressive was that she did it as a replacement candidate. The original Danish representative, Emma Heyst, dropped out citing lack of preparation time so Victoria was appointed to take her place and the rest is history

Sad to see this happen, particularly to the young contestants who with their teams put so much work into representing their state or country. Something is rotten at the MUO and the lousy pageant they just produced, plus locking the contestants up in their hotel rooms for two weeks, needs more attention from the media to ensure a better way forward for the organization.

For those South Africans in this comment section saying that this is the reason why your Miss South Africa quited and ran away. Please just keep quite because you are not in any position to complain after all the evil you did to that young girl called Chidinma in order to bring her down. Your Mia was not that beautiful, she doesn't have the body and her walk is not amazing, so she couldn't have won anyway. You guys lost, Chidinma won. Xenophobia lost, Africa won. Get over it

You comments is distasteful especially when you starting bullying Miss South Africa, body shaming and passing evil comments. Chidima suffered the crime committed by her mother, unfortunately they are laws and constitutions to be respected and abided. What South Africa suffered none because of illegal immigrants none of us not living in SA will ever understand. Your comments is vile and bullying.

The pageant industry is a BUSINESS. It's a tough business for women to be in. I've never viewed it as a platform for women's empowerment rather it's an environment where you can exploit them.

Right!? 💯 While empowerment is the “ideal”, it’s clear that most of these “Miss brands” just use the women as promotional mannequins for their brand. It’s a strategically brilliant way of making money because so many countries are watching and paying in 😅
