Tacos are more what Mexicans eat. When I was in Spain two times, they ate things like Jamon (ham), Pollo con huevos & arroz - Chicken with eggs & rice. Or appetizers like olives. People need to be able to distinguish between the two. This past summer, my daughter was playing with a neighborhood kid (who's black). It was hot outside. Yeah, it's sad what happened to him. Like you said, he's a compulsive and equal opportunity jokester. When I was a teen, he entertained me and my friend with dirty jokes and trick shots at the Riviera range. We were in heaven, but today he'd probably be dragged for using foul language to boys. What I think happened is that he was drunk and pissed--as so many pros were--at being so badly whipped by this new kid. He was also well past his prime. The reporters smelled blood, egged him on, and he stepped right in it. Of course his remarks were mean and racist, but that was par for the course for Fuzzy--jokers like him always push the envelope and say all kinds of inappropriate and off-color things for laughs. But he was funny and entertaining and people took it for the locker room humor that it was--rough ribbing in private among men, where the expectation is that you can take it and will take it and fire back. The only thing I know for sure about Fuzzy is that he took the time to entertain a couple of wide-eyed kids. He was really funny and nice. I think all he's really guilty of is being an attention whore--I doubt he hates anyone. But if you open your mouth and take risks, you can get burned. The real villains are the reporters.

To make a crack about somebody's nationality is socially acceptable but race is clearly off limits. If Garcia would have said, "We'll serve hamburgers and hot-dogs", it would have been a reference to Tiger's nationality, and thus acceptable. But fried chicken is clearly a reference to Tiger's race, for here in the US that food item is a very common stereotype directed towards blacks.
