@dianevanweelie5233 My comment had nothing to do with climate change. It had to do with natural environmental changes. When you build your abode on the banks or shores of a body of water (especially one that's in constant motion, like a delta or beach), on the side of a mountain jutting out over the sea or ocean, on the precipice of an extraordinarily high edifice, or in an area that's prone to annual wildfires, tornadoes, monsoons, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc., then you have to expect that it's, ultimately, only a temporary dwelling. The seventies wasn't prehistoric times. They were totally aware, fifty years ago, that Mother Nature reclaims EVERYTHING in time and building a structure (of any material or any level of construction technology) will eventually lead to that structure failing. It always has, does, and will.

The seas and the sands both move.. looks like this house should have been removed years ago the grey one has perhaps one more storm season ...though a big hit like Beryl and everything you can see here and more will be gone in a day or two. Humans playing in the dunes weaken the Marram grass that holds them in place against the wind.. so you get blowout channels through the dunes that storm waves can surge inland through.. What we see here is coastal erosion and long shore drift.. the sand is being moved out and then down the coast by the storm surge wave action. A large part of our planet's population lives within a couple of meters of sea level in some of our mega cities like London N.york .. it's all vulnerable even more so are the roads and rail links and agricultural land . Then there's the damage caused by salt water penetration into the ground water... Which can extend miles inland eating away at steel and concrete ..services and poisoning the fresh water in the soils. This loss is a personal disaster...even tragedy.. but a million or multiples of it is just a global warming statistic.
