Someone once said that we don't mourn for the dead. We mourn for ourselves and how that death will affect us. Jimmy Carter reminds me of such a happy time in my life. I was a preteen and young enough to be very happy with my parents (before the dreaded teenage years). My mother was teaching me to cook and sew and President Carter was one of us. He from Georgia; we from Oklahoma. He was a good man then and a good man today. I mourn for him and my childhood and my parents.

AMEN. HIS LAST DAYS WAS OUR (AMERICA) BEST DAYS. 2 TIM: 4-6-8, For I'am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Jimmy Carter was a young Ensign who went to Canada to repair a Canadian nuclear reactor. He entered the nuclear core of the reactor ,exposing himself to a lot of radiation! He was a graduate of the US Naval Academy here in Annapolis, Maryland , a Nuclear Engineer and a Submariner! He worked with Admiral Rickover, who was a very famous Naval officer and he established the first Atomic Reactors for Submarines. My own father was also a Naval officer and scientist . He helped build those reactor too under Admiral Rickover / Westinghouse. Rickover held very high standards , so did Jimmy Carter!

I was so fortunate to be able to have a very brief conversation with Jimmy Carter on a Habitat for Humanity project Summer of 1994. He visited every house that was under construction! He was 70 then, I was 40 . I am 70 now , he was 100 in 2024! We worked at the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. On December 29,1890 , Native Americans were slaughtered at Wounded Knee ,over 300 men, women, children and Elders were killed by the 7th Calvary. Jimmy died on December 29,2024! I think that project was Carter's way of helping to heal the Sacred Hoop! Johnny Cash sang a song " May the Circle be Unbroken"! Our US Navy family from Maryland salutes you Sir! 🫡🫡🫡🫡⚓️⛵️⚓️🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊And in the tradition of the US Navy, we are ," Wishing you a Happy Voyage Home, Sir! RIP!
