I can still recall my first time watching this, the same year it came out and being only eleven years old and also at the same time - being a part of the Creepypasta fandom, where Slenderman originated from back then and it really just...Unnerved me, scared me shitless. It for the longest time scared me not just out of the CP fandom, but in general any internet horror and those who were into it. I can still recall just how much of an impact this had too on the Creepypasta fandom - it ended up dying out to almost nothing and over in the recent years just began to rebuild itself and people having to state at every chance that "Hey, this character is not real, none of this is real, do not do ANY OF THIS.". It confused me as to how those two girls could believe someone that I thought was obvious that didn't even exist to begin with. I hope she's doing okay today, no kid or anybody deserves to go through anything this traumatic and painful. No one.

I was 12 and getting quite into conspiracy videos on KZbin. Men in black, aliens, ghosts, photos that shouldn't exist, illuminate etc. I suppose that's why this story was recommended to me. I never truly believed them, but when I saw this, I realized just how easily I could have. I'm fairly gullible. I guess cause I always had intelligent adults in my life that I could trust. If I didn't already have strong beliefs on what was real and what wasn't, I could be a damn 'moon landing was faked' person right now. Though this is different, internet algorithms can take you to dark places. Also I believe the leader Morgan was schizophrenic. That's why she so truly believed slenderman was real.

For those who want more context, one of the 2 girls behind that stabbing were diagnosed with schizophrenia and was sent to a mental institution for around 22 years. The other one not diagnosed with it was sent to an institution for 15 years. One of them later wrote an apology note to Peyton describing how much they regret that disgusting immoral act that they did. The other one kept silent.

+Dean Murphy They probably get phone calls about possible stabbings all the time. Might as well ask about key conditions to make sure if it is severe and how much. EDIT: since some people have upvoted this comment lately, let me point out a key flaw in the OP comment that I have mentioned further down in the comment chain: - The caller didn't say "she's been stabbed", despite OP's misquote. He said "She *appears* to be stabbed". That is not confirmation that she was indeed stabbed. It's critical that emergency operators ask these very simple leading questions to confirm what is going on, and to lead the callers into providing useful and genuine information that medical personal needs to know. If they just provide distressed guesses, which at worst could be false information, it could lead to the victims getting mistreated or the medical staff not being prepared to save them.

Due to them being only 12 their jail sentence/charges are much different compared to an adult. Obviously laws are different depending on the country but if you were in Canada the girls can only face a maximum juvenile time of 2 years if they are under the age of 16. I do not know the laws in the states but in Canada most likely their record will be wiped clean once they turn 18 if they show signs of understanding the nature of their crime and show remorse.These girls are 12, they are easily impressionable and their brains are not fully developed. They will be able to get jobs in the future through rehabilitation. Their lives are not over. Of course what they did was violent and wrong, but they have not matured yet, or understand the nature of the crime they committed. The brain of a 12 year old is significantly different then that of a fully developed adult.

Theres no better comfort in the world than kittens. The first crack you have to make in the battle charred and protective shell around your feelings is the hardest one. A bundle of kittens, one that need you, that you can help and make happy is the most effective method to break open the shell a little bit and let that first ray of hope in. Especially for children
