@@elmaz46 He's no mastermind. He's the drug dealer assuming all his of customers are using drugs "responsibly". He's the dad who leaves a cigarette lighter in the kids room. I truly think Basso cares. It's worth exploring the genius and selflessness of giving people who weigh over 350 lbs free food. Not because it offers fat people free food and cause for reflection. But also because the obese people who eat there won't be missed if they stop eating there, whether it's by choice or death. Once somebody obese has recognized their poor habits and decides to change, there wouldn't be a downside for Basso, as he wasn't financially benefitting from their addictions. Equally, if somebody obese has a heart attack at his restaurant, his message is sent out in capital letters so other people get scared to eat there. Which they should be.

the point is that the supervillain only makes sense on a superficial level. and then you consider everything else. Thanos became a genocidal dictator in his attempt at resource management. he murdered people. Killmonger still used CIA tactics to overthrow a country and was about to set up a mass takedown of oppressed peoples due to him thinking that he can enact a revolution just by arming them with Wakandan technology (which is really just vibranium-based). the Joker thinks everybody is innately the worst person possible. Left out of the story is how he went from an owner of a small chain of fitness clubs to churning out the most unhealthy food possible. He owned a chain called "In and Out Fitness", promoting how people can live healthier in a fast paced world. He was sued by In-N-Out Burger for copyright. They almost bankrupted him and his family. So he decided to join the fast food club that tried to ruin him yet still exposes how unhealthy it is by pulling back the curtain on what it takes to make this kind of food. He's being honest about it while the kingpins of the industry are making it look fabulous and fun. I have nothing but respect for this guy.

at the same time, he was also finishing up his degree and started talking to people about their cheat-day meals that's the part that made me go from "this guy's a truth-teller" to "this guy's throwing a delicious hissy-fit." like, there's a way to get your satirical point out without operating a restaurant that aims to kill people as part of the satire. he's coming from the same cynical-ass worldview as Morgan Spurlock - the both of them don't realize their satirizing the world they're creating. Morgan's fascination with super-sizing and the nutritional value of fast food led to a bunch of restaurants swapping out "fried" for "crispy" - and Morgan still chewed them out over that. Jon Basso's obsession with death, overkill-style menu items (milkshakes that are more like super-creamy ice cream than milkshakes due to their immense butterfat content), and oversized portions has led to restaurants adopting the same to draw in more customers. you can make a point about the revolution being coopted into capitalism, but it'd be like if Howard Beale decided to create the conditions needed for him to break down into that first jeremiad in the first place.

Sure its their choice, but do you think anyone wants to be overweight or die from obesity? These people have problems, and need help, not someone or something that enables them to eat more. The seller is also at fault because he/she is profiting off of people’s addictions/weaknesses and bad habits. Yet there are many warnings and we still are willing to pay for these unhealthy foods.

AnthonyOVOXO Yeah facts like he is literally asking them not to eat the food and putting warnings but people are still willing to buy there food. McDonald’s and other fast food chains don’t care about anyone’s health they just care about money
