Junior year me and my friend just got out of school and were playing football when we heard this little girl across the street crying so we went across to talk to her and she was so scared saying she doesnt know where she is. Me and my friend tried getting her moms number but her only being 6 didnt have it down. So we called the police they showed up then minutes after her grandma showed up in a panic saying she left school without waiting. One of the officers took our names down and later told one of our teachers that runs a giveaway on Friday during formation(I went to a military school) we were called up, regonized and given rewards but none of that compared to how I felt after saving her. Her mother the following week dropped off two envelopes in each was $25 and a thank you card. I still have the card to this day and I'm so proud to have helped someone out.

That's so true about how you felt after saving her. Like no person can truly replicate the depth of the reward of saving a lost child and seeing that genuine, raw, speechless gratitude on the face of the parents/grandparents right when they're reunited. Like I imagine as soon as they realized they couldn't find her, the IMMEDIATE thought following that would be the question of whether they're gonna find her and if they'll ever see her again, and as soon as THAT becomes a genuinely possible concern, ANYONE who manages to find her and tries to help her would be considered a hero or someone who saved her and the family. You were certainly that family's hero and savior!

I don't know if anyone will read this... But this just recently happened with my 10 year old daughter. I'm grateful to a stranger for saying something, even though it turned out my daughter wasn't in danger this time. Firstly, I live in a city which is known for human trafficking. My daughter used to carpool with friends to school the past few years now has to walk .7 miles to the school. (Budget cuts meant no bus unless at least 1 mile away.) We actually live in a neighborhood that's cut off from the larger neighborhood by a commercial lone that takes about 10 minutes to get through to get to the area her school and most friends actually live. At the start of the school year I walked with her and 2 other kids who lived on next street but they soon changed school and I got a job. A girl from her class lives just on other side of the commercial zone walks with several siblings and other friends. I decided to allow my daughter to meet her friends to walk together before it gets too cold. On the condition we talk on the phone until she gets past the area she walks alone and is with a group. So last week as she is walking to school, I hear her talking to someone saying No, thanks I'm meeting friends. Now I should mention I was elected the previous 2 school years on the PTA. My husband literally grew up having sleep overs with her principal so many people in the area may recognize her. She lived in same home her whole life. It was her teacher (Ms. B) who pulled into a parking lot to offer her a ride. Somebody saw this and called police with a license plate number and explained they saw someone trying to get a young girl into a vehicle. Police traced plate # and came to the school to make sure there was no threat. But to that stranger I'd like to thank you for saying something. You really made me grateful that in my little area we are sticking together!

It's good to hear that others are still watching out for any kids they come across. I try to do the same thing. I was actually on a bench at the mall one time when a mom & her kids came by. She let her son sit there while she got the car because he had a broken foot & was on crutches. Not a big deal at all. But just in case I sat there an extra couple of minutes anyway. I personally think you have a pretty good system in place to protect her. Especially if you have a tracking app on her phone for you to be able to follow. But talking with her through that spot is a great idea. It gives her a good sense of responsibility too.

I was at the grocery store with my husband once and this sweet lady with her infant son were about to leave but it was pouring rain and she didnt want him to get soaked and as i was standing on the sidewalk waiting for my husband to get the car, she asked me if i would watch him while she got her car, and i did of course. It just made her day a little bit easier

When I was in the army my boyfriend and I were driving to his house for lunch. I saw a little girl and boy outside with no clothes on. They looked two and four. I told him to stop so I could check it out. Well I found the house s couple of blocks over, door wide open. There was a baby sleeping with its neck in a bad angle in a swing. Mom was in bed knocked out. No idea her kids were outside. She had on an army shirt but she was probably a army wife. When I woke her up and told her they were outside alone she said not again. Wtf. So I left her with her kids and we went and had lunch. On the way back those same kids were outside again. Someone else had stopped this time. I told her what happened and she called the police. I really didn’t want to but obviously the mom needed some assistance taking care of those kids. This was a long time ago. If it was now I would have asked if she had family we could call, or just called her partner. But man it’s scary seeing babies out and about like that. I had a similar situation about a year ago and it was two little girls in nightgowns. I walked them home. It took like 20 mins to walk them back. I was nervous thinking someone would think I was taking the little girls, so I parked my car instead of driving them. The parents of these kids didn’t even know they were gone and didn’t seem to care they were back.

Claire honestly sometimes I just want to take the children and drive home and take care of them. But most kids love and want their moms-dads no matter what. I just wish people wouldn’t become moms-dads if they didn’t want to be moms-dads. But I guess if that were the case I wouldn’t be here. 🤔
@david_00065 жыл бұрын
Wait, are you supposed to take them back to their house?..
@hneebrn5 жыл бұрын
David not sure if there are clear cut rules as to what to do with them. But what if as in the case of the grandma she turned around for two seconds and their gone. I have lost sight of my daughter once in a store for about 35 seconds. She was playing hide and seek. Only I didn’t know she was hiding. Scared the crap out of me. I wouldn’t want a misunderstanding to become a cps nightmare. Also if u are caught “taking them away” from the area and someone assumes you are trying to take them that could be a nightmare for you as well. I guess you have to gauge the situation and go with your gut. If the kids seem scared and don’t want to go back to mom-dad. Then I wouldn’t take them back. I would call the police.

First time I ever let anyone watch my son was when we went out for lunch for my husbands and my anniversary. We don’t have any nearby family so it had only ever been myself or my husband watching him. My fil stayed with my son to watch him and was playing with him in the front yard when he went to hang out washing, leaving me 14 month old son to play with a toy in the front, fully fenced garden but with the double gate wide open onto a busy road. A lovely neighbour who I am forever indebted to stopped her car and picked him up and took him to the police station. My father in law rang us to tell us he didn’t know where our son was, that he had looked everywhere. The panic that went through me was unbelievable, we have a busy road, river at the end of the street, he could’ve been taken. Anything could’ve happened. I was livid, my husband had to take fil home so I could decompress without saying something I’d regret. He is still very blaze when minding his grandkids, he didn’t get to mind our son again til he was a bit older.

@Danny451 Fuentes God is all knowing and does what is best for each of us. Yes, it is heartbreaking when our children die. Yes, it is a terrible loss....one that not everyone gets over. However, God sees what will happen in the lives of these children if they live. He sees if they will become the next victim of a heroin overdose or a pedofile. He sees if they might choose to go their own way, separately from Him. In some cases, it is better for them (eternally speaking) if they pass on before the age of accountability (which is not the same for everyone), as they will automatically go to heaven. In some cases, God is being merciful by allowing them to perish and live with Him eternally, rather than live to a ripe old age but die and spend eternity in hell. God is always just and always right. It is people who have the warped sense of right and wrong. There will always be evil because of free will and the depraved nature of human beings. It isn't God who made the choices for us to bring sin into the world. Humans did that. God allowed it because of his great love for us. He allows us free will because He doesn't want to force himself on us...that would be like rape. He wants us to *choose* Him. Its God's will that everyone would be saved and come into relationship with Him through Jesus, but it has to be our choice. Also, eternity in heaven is so much greater than any suffering we go through here. People with wisdom and spiritual understanding know these things. People who are blinded and don't want to know God, don't know these things. I will be praying for you.
@@ajmaynard7986 "It isn't God who made the choices for us to bring sin into the world. Humans did that. God allowed it because of his great love for us. He allows us free will..." Ah, yes, the old "free will" argument. Supposedly your god is omniscient. This means that he KNEW how badly things would turn out if he gave us humans free will, yet he ignorantly chose to do it anyway. Therefore, your bullshit god is STILL culpable in all the atrocities that take place daily. Free will is simply a cop out.
