You are a dreadful parent for brainwashing your daughter into thinking Gillard was an 'inspiration'. She's no positive role model, then or now, unless you deem deceit and backstabbing and an inability to Google definitions as positive traits worth emulating.

@@thebrownlowI think many are missing the point; this is not about your personal political beliefs or what party you support. People are allowed the freedom to admire, appreciate or ‘respectfully’ dislike the action of a political figure such as this speech by the then Prime Minister. It obviously left a memorable historical marker considering people still feel so strongly about it today. It’s a shame that you are unable to express your personal opinion without resorting to attacking others views in a very personal and disrespectful manner. This may came as a shock 😱 to you that, surprisingly, there are often disagreements and divisions amongst members of the SAME political party (I know right like wtf 🤯)

Gillards speech was virtue-signalling rubbish. She herself employed insult in the dark art that is politics and when she was a reciever of the same she played the victim and weaponised it for her advantage. Many saw through it. Every Labor PM tries to make their neo-Marxist mark on our country: divorce laws, the apology to people who were subject to the same policies of child removal as the rest of Australians, the commision into religious institutional child abuse while ignoring state education and departments and the GayBC, the "Voice", etc.

How amazing that was to watch 😮 I never saw it back in the day - I worked in state policy units then - watching political events or just news in general wasn’t fun after work. I have much greater understanding and admiration for Julia after watching the fascinating series Nemesis and stumbling across ‘The Killing Season’ series about her time with Rudd and the Kevin 07 Campaign. Julia this is a speech I will hopefully get my teen daughter to watch when she gets bored of TikTok 😂 as one of those ‘moments’ in time where it shouldn’t matter what political party you supported; this was much bigger than that - this was about ‘you’ and ‘your girls’ - the unwritten code of women having each others back regardless of political or religious persuasion

Your recollection of events is off. Kevin Rudd was reelected after Julia Gillard, and then Australia voted in favour of the Liberal party, placing Mr Rabbit after Rudd. And at any point during Ms Gillard's speech "Not now, not ever" did she say a single phrase of blatant disrespect to men as a whole or any insult to Mr Abbott? If she did, please feel free to enlighten me. I can assure you, I have watched her speech multiple times in full, you will be hard pressed to find any goading towards men as a whole or any piece of falsity from quotes uttered by Mr Abbott dredged up for Ms Gillard's speech. She had dirt on Mr Abbott implicating him as a misogynist, but there's not a single blemishing comment Ms Gillard has ever said on record of misandry.

People are celebrating her speech, which was fine, but are overlooking the fact that she was an awful PM that strove for bad policies. Gillard was nowhere near a good PM, much less one of Australia's best - hence her being rejected in her succeeding election, losing Labor's majority status. People need to start thinking with their brains as opposed to their hearts.
