For those unfamiliar with pro wrestling and these two men in particular, Abdullah the Butcher was an absolutely massive human being. Seeing him look almost normal-sized is a testament to just how enormous Andre was. I can't imagine the size of these two if they took PED's. Mind-boggling.

Yes. He was Huge. I worked back stage and saw him a few times in Miami when he got older. He was in bad shape. I saw him as a kid on Miami Beach when Wrasslin was regionalized and he was incredibly large.

So I never really got to see him until near the end of his career when he was briefly in WCW. I hear that he is still alive and running a restaurant in Atlanta.

This is how I remember André when I watched him in the seventies. He was huge, but he was really tall as well. People say he was only 6’ 10” tall, yeah when he had back surgeries and gained another 75 pounds he was that tall, but when he was young and could stand up straight and had that big head of hair he was over 7 feet tall. If you saw him on the street and he was wearing cowboy boots, he probably was about 7’4” tall. Even in this video he is still not 100% standing up straight, but look at how big and tall he was. A year or two before this, he was really tall, but this video shows everyone how tall André really was.

Andre looked huge even compared to other wrestlers. i got to see Andre in the last 80's at the Boston Gardens. there was a place you could wait where the wrestlers entered the building. the crowd was about 10 people deep from me to the roped off area they walk past. even through the crowd I could see Andre from the lower part of his chest to the top of his 'fro. he was there with the Tonga Kid. you don't realize just how massive he really was until he's amoung a crowd of normal size people.

I grew up in the 60's, I knew it wasn't real but it's still very hard on the body, and some of these guys are big men but Andre was so cool, such a good human being and just do huge, not just tall but look at the guys hands. One of a kind

@@ajjy1110, he was taller than that in this match. He was even taller a year or two earlier. Andre never stopped growing, but eventually his weight started causing him to loose height. Then he started having back surgeries and that caused him to be even shorter. Read all the comments on this video, a lot of people are saying, WOW, he was really big and tall in his prime. That is because most people that started this junk about Andre being 6’9” or 6’10” actually never saw him when he was young and at his peak. A few years before his match was when Andre was probably at his peak as far as his height is concerned.
