Do those giggling, joking visitors realise how much pressure they were putting that guard under. He was pulling on the reins in the opposite direction at times to try and stop someone getting bitten. It was definitely no joke to him.

That's what reins are for..to control the horse and guide him. Where the guards are is a tourist attraction. The obvious solution to keep everyone safe is to rope the box off to give the horse and guard a degree of space. Tourists could still take pictures. If anyone does not obey the rules the police could remove them.

Sad and silly and should be stopped.Been saying it for years that the general public should stop touching the horses.Eventually someone will be seriously injured.On occasions there are a lot of police about who have it in their power to stop all this .Change the sign to DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSES and fine people if they do .Many people have suggested this but it is ignored and remains unresolved.The horses and guards are a slight anachronism at this time anyway.I sincerely hope someone listens eventually.

1 - they can't put a fence on a public footpath , potentially dangerous for horses and rider as well ! 2 The police are Ministry of Defence there for security and antiterrorism on a military property . They assist at change over for public safety and will tell people not to touch the reins , but they are not there to guard the Guards who are perfectly capable ace soldiers of looking after themselves !
