Canelo only has 2 fights left with pbc I’m pretty sure haymon and Canelo have agreed that benavidez will be the last fight. No way will haymon give Canelo that much money without fighting benavidez within the 3 fight deal. Another thing, benavidez and his team went from calling Canelo a coward and claiming Canelo he’s ducking to being completely quiet and respectful saying the fight may happen this year. I’m sure Canelos next fight will just be a fill in fight maybe against charlo or munguia and his last fight will be benavidez.

Andrade was 35-years old when he fought Benavidez. The man in his 15+ year career never fought a great fighter, he fought nothing but bums. When he finally got into the ring with a great fighter like Benavidez he looked like ass juice because he is and has always been a shit fighter and every real boxing fan knows it. The man had ducked plenty of opportunities to have somewhat of a decent resume, but instead he avoided the good fights to stay undefeated as if that meant something more than forging a legacy. People remembers you for what you do in the ring and he hasn't done anything. Demetrius Andrade career is basically now over and he will go down as a mediocre fighter who ducked and quit on his stool. Benavidez didn't even have to do anything remotely great in their fight. The man just basically stood right in-front of him flat footed with little movement and still won. It wont go over well for Benavidez fighting like that against Canelo, he's a different animal. I haven't seen anything different in the Andrade fight that I seen in any of his other fights. Canelo is a great pressure fighter/counter puncher with high IQ inside the ring with elite power and chin. Canelo will be Benavidez toughest challenge but he wont be Canelo's.

The funniest part is people tried to label Andrade like he was an elite highly skilled technician when he didn't even impress against tailor made opposition. The dude got dragged into a sloppy fight and staggered up by small face first middleweight gatekeeper Liam Williams and got dropped and taken the distance by a rando bum in his 168 debut, but people swore he'd school Benavidez lol. Andrade's big punch comes from throwing winging shots with his hands low which only works against gatekeepers, he throws sloppy/ineffective combos and is off balance and out of position a lot. Matter of fact, if Benavidez was a better counterpuncher he could have taken him out with a big shot. And yep, it's Benavidez who has something to prove against Canelo but haters act like it's the opposite. Benavidez has never even fought a top fighter with power. Meanwhile Plant who's not even a big puncher had success bringing down his workrate and aggression with counters (until he started gassing) and Benavidez got dropped and was lucky to escape with a SD over gatekeeper Gavril. So how's he going to react the first time he faces skilled power?

There is no comparison, Canelo's resume is generationally stacked whereas David's top win is going the distance with one of Canelo's leftovers. The reason it's necessary to analyze fights like Benavidez getting his aggression and workrate tamed by nonpuncher Plant (until he started gassing) and getting dropped by a gatekeeper in a SD is because David doesn't have much of a resume to go on. It's David who has something to prove not the other way around, and if he wanted to make himself more or a priority he wouldn't have ducked a unification with Plant when they were both champs, twice dropped his belt and ducked another title shot at 175.

I think Canelo has a very good chance to win this fight. I don't think Benavidez is going to be as aggressive in this fight as he's been in his past fights. He landed more, he had a higher percentage in accuracy, and he got hit less. So when Abel said "against who? " Marcos should've said "Plant, that's their common opponent, David landed way more and got hit less". That's simply just the plain facts. It's wild too that in the end with Abel trying to make a point about Canelo KO'ing guys, then they started naming recent opponents like Ryder ? Nah, Callum Smith ? Nah, Bivol ? Nah. Bivol ? Are you saying you believe he beat your own fighter the first time too ? (GGG)." What does Benavidez have to do with a green 23yo Canelo fighting p4p #1 Floyd at Floyd's 152 catchweight or elite skilled technician and career light heavy Bivol? He was recently bragging about fighting GGG/Saunders' washed leftovers like it was a legacy fight for him and his top career opponent is someone Canelo already laid out. Canelo's generational resume is an entirely different world than David's. You: " Benavidez statistically did better in pretty much all metrics." Benavidez did better against Plant? Plant was outpointing Benavidez through the first 5 rounds with Benavidez not getting into a groove until after Plant started gassing. Benavidez fans hype him up for his workrate and aggression when Plant who's not even a big puncher had Benavidez thinking twice about coming forward for the first half of the fight. And even when Plant started gassing, he couldn't take him out because he relied too much on single winging shots which isn't an effective way to take a fighter out (and the type of punches that could get him countered up). Also Plant was still trading in rounds and by the 12th Benavidez had landed his best shots yet Plant was still moving around and firing off shots. On the other hand, Canelo was putting in work tracking Plant down with big shots from early on and methodically broke him down. Plant also tried holding against Canelo, but Canelo who's savvier and more experienced (and probably physically stronger) leveraged openings and slipped in counters that had Plant thinking twice. To summarize, we know Canelo is a highly skilled p4p elite. And we know he has an iron chin and is able to knock out top champs and is also able to make champs reluctant to let their hands go including big punching and aggressive guys who've never been reluctant. Fighters have the world to gain by beating Canelo yet they usually end up giving the most tentative fights of their careers when he gets his offense going. Benavidez isn't bringing anything he hasn't seen and Canelo does well against tall come forward fighters, and Benavidez is a guy who tends to walk in with his hands low. On the other hand we have no idea how Benavidez will look the first time he faces a skilled fighter with power. And his only real noteworthy opponent at 168 is Plant which raised more questions than it answered.

Then the WBC and WBA have runner up belts now. There’s a lot of mediocre fighters with belts. Take that argument elsewhere because mediocre fighters with belts are everywhere nowadays. Canelo faced GGG when he was old and past prime. That’s a fact. Everyone knows this. The vast majority of fans thought Canelo lost the first fight against a 35 year old GGG. That’s why GGG became #1 P4p on peoples’ lists after that fight. The judges gave him a narrow majority decision the 2nd fight against a 36 year old GGG. Then he couldn’t even KO a 40 year old GGG. Let’s not forget he dropped a WBC belt in order to duck and age GGG out for over 2 years before the first fight. Same thing with Kovalev. Kovalev showed his gas tank was horrible in previous fights. He had already been stopped twice and almost a third time by Yarde. That’s the main reason Canelo took that fight. It’s not impressive KO’ing a 36 year old Kovaelv with stamina issues. When he fought a prime 175 lber in Bivol he got schooled because he had no age advantage. You also keep dissing Benavidez, I’m not some big Benavidez fanboy, but if he’s not so great, fine, tell Canelo to fight him. He’s the clear #1 contender in the division. Why does he keep stalling and choosing to fight guys ranked behind Benavidez ? You keep crying “benavidez is overrated, blah blah blah” Okay, fine, whatever. He’s still #1 on the contender list and Canelo’s mandatory so tell Canelo to fight him. There more and more you talk about how David isn’t that great, and his style is made for Canelo, sounds great and amazing. You make it sound like an easy Canelo win right ?

IMHO the Plant fight exposed David's limitations rather than next level ability. Benavidez is hyped for his workrate and power, but even though Plant isn't a big puncher, he had success bringing down Benavidez's workrate and aggression with his counters. Benavidez didn't really get his punches off until after Plant started gassing halfway through the fight, but even then couldn't take Plant out despite landing his best punches. Benavidez even against a gassed Plant was loading up too much on single winging shots, the kind that can be countered by a better fighter especially with the way he lives his chin exposed. Meanwhile the Andrade fight didn't say much considering Andrade was a step down from Plant.
