Facts Teddy Atlas probably doesnt know about Golovkin: 1. GGG is not a big middleweight, he fought at 140lbs Superlightweight till age 19 and at Welterweight till age 20. 8 of his last 10 Opponents have been heavier then him at the 30days,7days,2nd day Weigh in. 2. Yes he didnt fought the big names before 2015 because Sturm,Abraham,Martinez,Chavez Jr.,Quillin,Saunders,Cotto,Canelo, Eubank Jr....they all ducked him 2010-2015 They Paid step aside money ,Gave up there belts and eliminator position when he became there mandatory,they left the division,retired, lost there pen to sign the contract or ask for stupid money. 3. Now he gets called out... when he is past prime, 37 and looks vulnerable but he has still enough in him to beat the top5 at 160-168
@hawkermustang

I don't know of any prime MW that was ducked and dodged more than Golovkin. So none of the other middleweights in the world thought GGG was overrated. They knew Golovkin was gonna knock their head off.

Ggg could’ve fought canelo way earlier if he really wanted too. But he didn’t took it because canelo offered 5 million and than 10 millions at 155. If ggg wanted to be great he should have done it. So don’t fucking put excuses for him. He could’ve also fought ward at 168 at one point but ggg never wanted to move up or down. You guys idolize him but let’s be real. And know that he turned his back on the trainer that made him what he is now, he is a shitty boxer and person. He had always said he only fought for legacy and not for money but why didn’t he took the 10 million and fought canelo earlier? And why did he got rid off Abel?

GGG was never a big middleweight, was outweighed in the majority of his bouts, even by Brook, and Atlas is calling Jacobs a real middleweight, no Jacobs himself was a huge middleweight that weighed around 190lbs vs Golovkin. Not to mention Jacobs accepted that fight only because GGG was already 35, wanted months of prep while skipping mandatory's VADA testing, skipped the IBF's second weigh-in, while they had the first weigh-in unusually early in the morning, giving Jacobs 36 hours to rehydrate before getting in the ring, and the fight was in Jacobs backyard.
@samblasian5236
@samblasian5236 5 жыл бұрын
GGG was not outweighed by Kell Brook at the weigh in or on fight night, that was at the 30 day weigh in where Brook was heavier. GGG only fought against people he knew he could beat, he's currently afraid of Charlo and Andrade. He also had no interest in Billy Joe Saunders or Derevianchenko. Jacobs beat GGG IMO, the British commentary had him winning.

Thank you. Jacobs was 176 the morning of the fight, while skipping the IBF's second weigh-in, and was weighed 184 hours before the fight in front of HBO's people. Jacobs was well over 180lbs vs Canelo, he was bigger vs GGG and had much more time to rehydrate.

If GGG wanted to change coach, he would not have proposed the fixed-fee proposal to Abel- let’s get that out of the way. GGG wanted to maximize his financial reward and/or did not see the value behind Abel’s 10 % payout; in other words, Abel’s ROI (return on investment) was unjustifiably excessive , in GGG’s eyes. At least GGG gave Abel the courtesy to respond to his proposal. Financial decision, that’s all it was.

That's possibly true, but isn't it also a possibility that GGG knew that Abel Sanchez wasn't the kind of man to accept what would amount to a reduced offer to continue to train him?

I’ve like teddy since the Tyson days he’s a beast of a trainer the way he brutally verbally abuses his fighters when they’re not listening lol 😂 anyways teddy’s boxing knowledge is subprime the way he sees boxers mistakes and picks up on there rhythms and knows what to do, how to do it and most importantly he finds the path to victory where it’s either tactics or it’s basically getting in his fighters head and literally fueling them with his own ferocity - this inits self in an art

The fact is we don't know what the reason for the split is. But, although I don't agree with Teddy on everything I like his analysis on the situation. So many others online have used the split to slag off, attack and make snide remarks about either GGG, Sanchez or both. They don't know the facts either, but their opinion is based on who they like or not etc. It is good that Teddy, as a coach, actually does not use it as a chance to attack fighters, and instead looks at the facts that we do have. cheers JB

Abel doesn’t even do real pad/mitt work, says he “doesn’t believe in it.” On top of that fighters do road work and all that alone. So you want 10 million dollars for what then? An hour or two max a day? Abel called GGG sad and greedy but he’s the one who is both. Not to mention Abel was literally out of boxing when he met Gennady. Now he’s got a whole stable of guys and a popular gym he can make money from, all thanks to GGG for the most part. Most fighters will make you 1000-5000 MAX for a fight, 300-500k is more than generous.

I understand the bigger you are the more energy you excerpt moving fast like that. But it shows how deep and disciplined the teaching of Cus, Rooney, and teddy was. I see Atlas and Kevin Rooney teaching Mike this in old training clips and be like dam I see why he was obliterating them dudes the way he was. I see Mike vs Wilder the same way his fight with Jose Robalta went. Striking resemblance to wilder. Jose thing was he didn’t believe Tyson could beat him because he was taller with longer reach.

GGG was given the wrong advice on how to split with Abel I think. He should have just sat down with Abel and tell him, he wanted different methods for training, he needed a change. Teddy Atlas is right, GGG stagnated in the last years, he showed zero new techniques. Well, when everybody knows what you are going to do on every step, they will be ready and you won't have achieved your goals in the match. Abel, I think overreacted a bit, by calling GGG greedy and ungrateful.

It sucks for GGG that he couldn't get a big fight in his prime. He is in the twilight of his career but he still didn't get dominated by Canelo. In fact it is debatable from fans about fight 1. GGG leaving his trainer is a product of bad management. Could he beat Canelo if they fought a 3rd time? With his punch you can never say never but at the level that Canelo is fighting at now , with Sanchez or without him , GGG at this point of his career doesn't have the odds in his favor.

The same criticism about GGG fighting fighters that came from lower divisions applies to Hagler and Canelo! So let's drop the hypocritical double standard! And since when is GGG a big middleweight?!

Thirteen minutes to discuss the split? It was simple. GGG barely even needs any trainer - he's a vet. Spending £10 million just to train in someones Gym is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. Abel had plenty of fighters in his gym too (like Joe Joyce), and he runs a full time construction business. So how much attention and time was he happily investing into GGG? He was probably always busy doing other shit. Fuck paying him £10 million just to use his training facilities lol

I dont know about his training, but I dont think Sanchez is good corner man. He says far too much. First rule of being a corner man is short, simple instructions. So I wasnt too surprised to hear GGG had left him.

I think GGG should have moved on early last year itself the moment when Abel asked his other fighter Gassiev to simply deal with Usyk This is not what to expect from a coach He had No real advice to give This action has been too late for GGG Hope he can make amends with his new trainer before September

A, GGG is a once a decade puncher (coming from a former boxer who's best strength was punching power, meaning I recognize punching power when I see it). B, I was never impressed with Sanchez as a trainer. I felt that he understands the fundamentals of boxing on the outside and he can train guys well in that area, but he has no fucking conception of infighting fundamentals. I was always frustrated that a guy like GGG, with huge power, great timing, durability and footwork was never taught the fundamentals of infighting ie, headmovement and punching off of it. Had GGG been trained to move his head and counter as well as he's been trained to move his feet, he'd be almost unbeatable. Finally, Sanchez hasn't had anything to new to offer, in making GGG a more skilled fighter for years. I've watched GGG training wirh Bank's and I'm super psyched! He's actually moving his head deliberately and properly. Hes been slipping and bobbing and weaving. I've been wanting to see him bob and weave forever and with enough time, banks hounding him in sparring and him getting used to making guys miss with the headmovement and countering off of it, eventually he won't need to focus or think about moving his head rather than his feet (which requires a guy with great power to give up that strength by using footwork to back out) or block and time guys and punch with them. He'll move his head and counter naturally and as second nature, if he focuses on headmovement then he's gonna be twice as dangerous.

Guys why is this such a hot topic, its business. We need to pay more attention to issues of the game... like why do we allow crooks to rob GGG over again, that's real, about boxing. Many fighters left trainers, would Able not take Lomo f he was out there, stop winning. Great fight show guys. Hope you see this Teddy, i am not a young man and this internet may not be kind to me.

Teddy's right but wouldn't have made a difference in the fight, what more could g do well more output even clear as day win g would never get the decision, canelo will lose when he's 35 and gbp turns on him if it goes to the cards. Just like his master who at 35 got pummled by a phillipino midget.also it's boxing people it's a fake sport when it needs to be, ggg never stood a chance but his comfort should come in that way more pundits thought he won twice.

Hmmmnn Teddy Atlas never made so much fuzz about Canelo failing the drug test whenever Canelo wins. Even called him terrific and good for the sport. But whenever Pacquiao wins he always bring up the PED accusations to a fighter who never failed drug testing. His only basis is Pacquiao small: beating big guys: must be on PED. For Teddy a small guy should not beat bigger guys, coz if they did, they must be on PED. That's the only explanation for him. Gee I wonder why? HATER maybe....

I’m reading all the great comments about ggg n Jacobs etc !like I said great points about ggg being lighter in weight I guess to this one opponent “jacobs” not sure if this was also case with others he fought .also it was mentioned he was 35 and deemed vulnerable bc of that age etc now I have important questions!do these perceive handicaps only relate to ggg or any n all boxers?!I ask this bc there is a certain champion who when he beat the person ggg lost to (well I believe ggg won fight definitely their first match)at age 37 the old age of 37 nobody mentions it bf or af that match of this fighter being disadvantaged at age of not 35 but 37!also against a much younger stronger champion infact (ppl mostly of certain$( ethnicities )said Floyd was too experienced at 37 …btw this man Didn’t just win against canelo he treated him like lil boy and dominated him thoroughly’so once again does these issues of being 35 under sized (Floyd was every fight) only apply to certain boxers with particular backgrounds?!Please lmk?!

Luv the Podcast, now, I personally respect/ respected GGG and his boxing skills, one of the best fighters ever, period. But if this situation was all about subtracting money or being obnoxiously cheap to a man whose helped shape ur whole career? Bitch move, no respect for Mr. Big Drama Show. But also, I really didn't like Abels commentary after that last Canelo fight.
