The weather is looking a bit dodgy for the coming week, so not sure about being able to paint outdoors, so back to normal Scottish weather. One thing I've noticed about Scotland; it never seems to matter how sunny the day is it always windy & looks and gloomy. Like a grey shade over everything.

Hi Philip, We do have some sunny days in Scotland, but we also have some appalling days, today the rain is coming in horizontally. We also don’t get some high temperatures either so summer is around about an average of 19 degrees centigrade. You’re 100% right about the wind, though, it’s always windy! Best wishes, James

James, another beautiful video with lovely places and scenes you and your wife visited. Nice to be a little part of that. I have one question about the sketch you show @11:50. What do you use these sketches for exactly? Some sort of preview of the scene before you start the real painting?

Hi Wim, Glad you enjoyed the video, it’s really great to take you with us! I do a sketch to work out the problems of the composition. Where to place everything. It makes it easier to do the drawing on the big bit of paper, as I’ve already worked out the problems, the bigger the bit of paper, the more important it is.
