Pronunciation - Cask aNev I have only tried two Aberlour Single Malt Scotch whiskies; the Casg Annamh and the 12 year old. I have to say that I love both of these whiskies and I am currently enjoying a few drams of the Casg Annamh on a rather dreich day here in Scotland 🥃✊🏻🏴

That's a great way to start with Aberlour, but I do still love the A'bunadh. ;) Cheers!

Lovely whisky. One of my favorite Speysides. Got mines at an ABC Liquor Store in North Florida for 67.00🔥

I am Scottish and the pronunciation can be hard, but that’s ok just enjoy the whiskies. This year we done the Islay distilleries and really enjoyed them.

Thanks for the pass on pronunciations. I still want to try to get them right, though. ;) After our recent trip to 8 Speyside distilleries (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqfKnqCCgq2LjJI), we want to do the Islay tour again. Cheers!

love the new setup! unfortunately in Canada I dont think we'll be getting this one haha but I would like to know how it compares to the Abunadh or their standard age statement range if you're able to make that video

Thanks for the positive feedback! I am planning a comparison video, maybe I should do it sooner than later… before I finish one of the two off. ;) Cheers!

....also just to note, with Aberlour the 'lour' is pronounced the same as 'lower' is pronounced in the word flower 👍🏻 🥃✊🏻🏴

Thanks! I think I pronounce it correctly in at least one video, but I'm pretty good at screwing up names even when I know how to do it. Cheers!

I'm British and I can say, don't worry about getting the pronunciation wrong. You did about as well as 99% of people in the UK with that. Even people within the uk sometimes (always) struggle with broad Scottish accents. I guess because we don't get enough exposure on tv and so forth. Hope you enjoy the trip, pandemic permitting..

That's kind of you to let me off the hook on pronunciations. I rely on Aquavitae, another great KZbin whisky channel, to learn how to say some of the names - this one I just took a shot and figured I'd learn through the comments. Our fingers are crossed for the trip. Cheers!

I find your reviews to be both informative and provocative...not to mention, expensive. I doubt I would have spent nearly $300 on whiskey the other day if not due to your provocation. I have not paid much attention to the different whiskeys I have enjoyed over the last 5 decades and am still fuzzy on the predominant flavour differences between the different regions of production. I have long enjoyed the Islays (thank you for correcting my pronunciation) and have discovered that Irish whiskey, to me, is like cilantro to some taste buds: I'd rather drink creosote. Maybe I'm missing something...? Anyway, keep on picking and please, if you will, help us punters learn the differences between regional whiskeys. Cheers! I'm just enjoying a Dun Bheagan while surveying one of my wife's signature Gallagher guitars. It needs new strings again. It, and 4 or 5 other of her guitars.

My apologies for causing your whisky budget to increase. 😂 And I pronounced Islay wrong too for quite some time until a British friend of mine corrected me. Tastes are very personal, which is why I always try to add context of my preferences to my reviews. Don't hesitate to ask if I'm unclear about something. Gallagher guitars are great! I'm sure her strings are worn down because she plays more (and better) than me. Cheers!

I also like raisins. BUT not yogurt covered raisins. I like raisins better when they are in the flavor profile. Many Californian red Zinfandel wines have this tasting note as well!

I don't know if I've had yogurt-covered raisins enough to remember the taste. I remember trying yogurt-covered pretzels a couple of time and deciding that they weren't my jam.

Is it just me or does anyone else get bothered when someone doesn’t use a tumbler and a liquor pourer? I like 1 Oz pours, reduces chance of pouring too much (I’d rather drinking multiple different whiskies than a lot of one), helps make the bottle last longer, and let’s you know how much you truly have in the bottle when it’s 25.36 Ounces per bottle. I rotate obviously between bottles and I know I have 20.36 per drinking bottles I have right now
@WhiskyRiffs3 жыл бұрын
I think for mixed drinks, accuracy in a pour is more critical. If I'm at a bar and I order a single or double pour that's neat, I want them to not short change me and would like to see it measured. But when I'm sitting down to just sip a dram, a pour is more casual. Cheers!
@petermutton80462 жыл бұрын
Why on earth would you prefer a tumbler to a proper whisky glass for whisky? The Whisky glass shape traps the the volatile elements of the whisky so that when you stick your nose in you can better appreciate the wonderful aroma of the whisky. It means you don't need to take a sip every time you lift your glass. I like to have a sniff or two to anticipate the taste, then a small sip and suck a bit of air in and hold it in the mouth for a while before swallowing. A good whisky like Casg Annamh will have a long aftertaste and taking a further sniff or two whilst the taste lingers gives a more complex flavour sensation. I lift my glass more often to take a sniff than a sip. A dram can take a while to drink but you get maximum enjoyment and the bottle lasts longer.
